If Washington didn't exercise its option for Oates, the best move any team could make would be to sign Hull & Oates (Yes, like singing sensations Hall & Oates).

When they were together they were fucking unstoppable.

I don't think that's necessarily the answer for the Islanders troubles because they're rebuilding and if I were you guys I would want a long term solution.

The sleeper out there, a player who gives his all every night who ANY team would want I would say would be Mike Keane. I hope my Canadiens bring him back, but that would be far too rational. He's got a great heart, he's a great worker, and a fantastic leader. He's not going to lead your team in scoring, but he's clutch and he scores when he needs to and fights when he needs to.

Dammit Spork, you're making me nervous, wondering what the hell the Rangers are gonna do and how much they're gonna give away in the process!

PLEASE KEEP GRAVES!
Let's go RANGERS!!

Well, the standard "word around the campfire" seems to be summed up in the following article:

quote:

Pens, Rangers, mum on possible Jagr trade

Associated Press
NEW YORK

While there has been speculation that Jaromir Jagr could be headed to New York, the Rangers told the New York Daily News no deal is imminent.

The rampant speculation has Jagr donning a Rangers jersey as soon as Glen Sather offers centre Mike York, defenceman Tomas Kloucek, either Pavel Brendl or Jamie Lundmark and some cash that could approach $10 million US.

Jagr's agent Mike Barnett told the Daily News he had not yet heard anything from the Penguins. He also expects any team attempting to acquire Jagr would want to discuss an extension of the two years left on his contract.

If Penguins GM Craig Patrick has received a particularly attractive trade offer for Jagr, he isn't letting on.

"We still have lots of decisions to make," Patrick told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It depends how lots of conversations go. We've got to figure out how to fit everybody into it. There's no clear-cut decisions made at this point on anybody. ... I haven't pursued (a Jagr trade) yet."

The Pens GM is also rumored to be interested in the islanders offer of cheap, young, talent that could help the pens become a powerhouse for the next ten years. so the Isles have a shot at Jagr as well

Definitely, I think Patrick's going to make a good deal for the Penguins either way you look at it. But if the Rangers are going to throw in $10 million - I mean with that sort of money Pittsburgh could go get a $2 million a year free agent and lock him up for five years. That's the brutal thing about the Rangers, they'll just throw money at anything.

Are you crazy.
What is Mike Keane going to do for anybody?
He should just retire.

But then again Im not really bias to the subject because I judge Keane from his 4 months of Shitty Hockey with the Rangers.

Well, I've seen Keane win three cups with different teams. The Rangers were just trying to cobble together free agents. It doesn't really work that way. Neil Smith wasn't using his money properly. If you give it time, Glenn Sather should be able to DESIGN a team.

Mike Keane is a role player who has 3 rings, that doesnt mean anything.

Ron Harper has 5 NBA World Title Rings, that doesnt make him great. He wasnt responsible for them. neither is Keane.

Fair enough, I just think Keane's more than just another average role player. Who would I much rather have on my team - Mike Keane or Alexi Yashin. I'd take Keane in a second. I wouldn't want a star who is a downright cancer in the dressing room.
Obvioulsy you need other things like scoring and you can't build a team ENTIRELY of role players, but I would jump at the chance to get one, that's why Dallas did so well in picking up Kirk Muller - they bring more to the ice than just their offensive talent.
Granted, that's the argument for Messier nowadays as well, but it still holds true to a degree. There are many who would say that a lot of Vancouver's success this past season was due to a lot of the work that Messier did in building up Markus Naslund to be a better captain.
Good old intangibles I tell ya!
