"With Dan it helped that he was playing Tier II at 14. He was able to play with older players so you could see him at an advanced level." - Bob Tory, Kootenay's Director of Hockey Operations, 1999-2000

"We projected he'd be an impact player. So, is he ahead of schedule? Yes. Are we surprised? No." - Bob Tory

"He puts a calming effect on our dressing room before big games." - Ryan McGill

"We all need... a haven. A sanctuary. A place to hide. A place to escape. A place to dream and hope. A place... where the darkness won't be so frightening. But for some, the darkness is a relentless enemy. It cannot be eluded. And once the darkness senses your fear; once it senses your pain, it is never far behind. I can empathize with these people. I can understand their futility. I can forgive their hopelessness. I feel their pain. Quote the Raven, nevermore."

they still need a goalie for now -- but this was the goalie for the future and beyond

Jamie Storr is no different than Guy Hebert or Kirk McLean, he is a second rate Goaltender.

We have enough backups on this team. The Goaltending is going to be a serious issue on this team for next season, and it doesnt look good.

Mike Richter can still get the job done, barring other injuries. If I were the Rangers I wouldn't worry about goaltending nearly as much as I would Defensemen. I understood they needed a goalie, and they do, but I think they should have drafted a defenseman as their #1. But again, it's a crapshoot, who knows.

Maybe this Blackburn guy won't pan out. And the Injury guy the Devils drafted will turn out to be what some have said about him. Scouts have said if this guy gets healthy he can be a #1 center. Who knows. Patty Elias was #51, Sykora #18, Gomez #28?, Brodeur was passed over. Hey, so was Michael Jordan.

All I know, from seeing highlights of this guy, is that he's really going to have to lose the writing on the bottom of his mask. It sports his nickname, which methinks may not go down too well in NYC... yes, his mask is adorned with:

BLACKIE

Hey, it might just be me, but you know, it would probably be inappropriate to bring that mask with him when the Rangers bring the kids from Harlem to their little hockey camp deal.
