| O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | i dont know much about him but.. here it is fom ESPN: Scouting Report 2000 Season After his strong finish with Kansas City in 1999, Jay Witasick began the 2000 season hoping to pick up where he'd left off the year before. It didn't work out that way. A string of April shellings landed him in the Royals' bullpen, and he bounced back and forth between the pen and the rotation for the next three months. A deadline trade for Brian Meadows landed him in San Diego, where he continued to struggle. Pitching, Defense & Hitting Witasick is a pure power pitcher whose main weapon is a moving fastball in the low to mid-90s. His curve and changeup are nothing special, and he must keep the ball down to be effective. Command, however, is not a strength, and until he cuts down on his walks, inconsistency will plague him. He's a decent fielder, but his long delivery allows basestealers to take advantage of him. Witasick has had only a handful of pro at-bats, and it shows. 2001 Outlook While Witasick's arm is easy to like, the Padres may not be as patient with him as the pitching-poor Royals were. San Diego did re-sign him to a one-year deal in late December, and the 2001 season will go a long way toward determining whether Witasick has what it takes to make it in the majors. | Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | its a good pick up. jimenez was being wasted in the minors and the yanks really don't need him now. he'll take some pressure off stanton and mo and things will get better in the bronx soon. and i agree you could of gotten more for him IF ASSHOLES COULD FLY THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN AIRPORT.
