O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	Boxer dies six days after knockout -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press NEW YORK -- Boxer Beethavean Scottland died Monday night, nearly a week after he was knocked unconscious in the final round of a bout on the aircraft carrier Intrepid. Scottland, 26, of North Brentwood, Md., died at about 10:30 p.m. at Bellevue Hospital, according to hospital spokesman John Clark. Scottland was knocked out by light-heavyweight George Khalid Jones of Paterson, N.J., in the 10th round of the fight aboard the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum last Tuesday night. The father of three lost consciousness within minutes of his knockout. He underwent two operations to relieve pressure on his brain, including three hours of neurosurgery Wednesday. Scottland, normally a super-middleweight, was a late replacement when another boxer, David Telesco, withdrew from the match after his nose was broken during training. Jones, a left-hander, used a left to the back of the head to stagger Scottland and sent him down with a right to the head. Scottland fell to the mat, lay unconscious for several minutes, and was carried out by paramedics on a stretcher. State boxing officials on Friday were reviewing a videotape of the nationally televised fight, which is standard procedure after a fighter is seriously injured. Dr. Barry Jordan, chief medical officer with the New York State Boxing Commission, said the review was conducted to see if there were any opportunities to stop the fight before Scottland was seriously injured. But,u guys gotta be kiddin me, u know how bloody boxing used to be? it was fuckin ponderous, i barely even watch it anymore cuz its borin. Only boxing i watch is Thunder Box on ch 5. on Saturday at 3 in the morning, those are real fights. I suggest watching it. if u can stay awake that late. We're all just monkeys!! O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01	It's an absolute tragedy, true, but try to remember that the fighters know they are taking their lives into their own hands every single time they step into the ring. O&A Board Regular Registered: Mar. 01	Balloon, yes, Muhammed is fucked up, but Michael J. Fox has the same exact problem and he never boxed. Thunderbox is cool, watch when i get home from work on saturday.
