The Indians have just come back from a 12-0 deficit in the 3rd Inning, and a 14-2 deficit in the 7th Inning, to beat the Mariners 15-14 in 11 Innings on Sunday Night Baseball.

This could be a huge win for Cleveland and spark them to a Division Title in the Central. This would be an absolute crushing defeat to any other team, but I doubt it will hurt Seattle that much. They are now only 49 games over.500 instead of 51.

It also goes to show you that you always play the game to win. Last week Brewers Manager Davey Lopes came out and started yelling at Rickey Henderson for stealing a base in the 7th Inning when the Padres were winning by 7. You never know whats going to happen in this crazy game. here the Indians were down by 12! and they won the game. Last year the Mets were down 8-1 to the Braves in the 8th and scored 10 runs in the 8th Inning.

I just think it's funny how Cleveland and Seattle are doing better this year without Manny or Gay-rod.

Hell, look at the Twins, they have no superstars and they're doing just as great.

I saw the Indians score the 3 in the seventh and figured who give a fuck, they are still getting killed. I go to take a shower and do all of that other shit and then come out to see everyone in the place going apeshit. Very fucked up.

And Banger you bring up the excellent point. That's what I've been saying to people about the Davy Lopes/Rickey Henderson situation. Coming one week after Pittsburgh's 7 in the 9th with 2 outs victory, hopefully people wake up and see that some of their unwritten rules are dead and buried.

I saw that game last night. I turned it on and it was 12-0 so i figured it was over. Then i turned it back on and it ws 14-9 in the 9th, i watched the rest of the game. UNBELIEVABLE!! It is the first time since 1925 since someone came back from 12 runs down to win a game...this is literally a once in a lifetime thing that happened. And it happened against a team who is going to break a record for most wins in a season. WOW!!!

that would be something if Seattle misses the record for most wins in a season by 1 Game.

i would definitely laugh my ass off if that happened.

For the Indians, this could be something that fires them up for the rest of the season. Of course, the fact that they gave up 14 runs in 5 innings isnt encouraging for the pitching staff, but maybe now the pitchers, especially the starters, will be more comfortable.

Cleveland is a team where they will probably have enough hitting to beat out Minnesota and win the Division, but once the Playoffs start, they will get killed no matter who they play because their Rotation is VeRy soft.

officer joe, you're right about the rules - i read that espn mag thing about the code a few issues back, and i remember thinking that building on a seemingly "insurmountable" lead was a bit uncalled for, but when shit like this happens you see that every run is necessary.

i was at that game last night - it was just crazy - everyone left in like the 7th inning and since this was a rare chance for me to be at jacobs field i wasnt going anywhere - glad i didnt - and im one of those people that do the scorecard during the game to keep me busy and just looking at the names in the mariners lineup after pinella took everyone out was just sad

and for a side note watching a game there is so much different then at shea or yankee stadium it was the first time for me at a major league stadium other then those 2 and i have to say it was pretty cool

I still cannot believe the Indians actually came
back and won that game...

Was in Cooperstown for the weekend for inductions
and walked into a restaurant/bar for dinner to see
the Indians were getting hammered by the Mariners
14-2 at the top of the 7th...when they scored
those 3 runs in the 7th I joked aboout them making
a comeback....when the 9th came around and they
actually tied it I was in awe!! What a crazy
game...after Nelson came in I figured it might be
over....then when Sazaki was called in I was sure
it was....Mad props to the Indians, that not only
was a great win or the greatest comeback since the
early 1900's it was a great comeback win against
the best team in baseball. The loss may not have
affected the Mariners at all stat-wise but hell
that had to do something to them mentally...That
had to really suck for them to lose that way.

Much thanks to Grumpy and my "master" for this kick ass sig pic :)

I had to work the night of that game. Most people left in the fourth inning. Those who stayed, as noted, got to see one hell of a game. Even I stood there thinking it was over when I wasn't telling the ICHIRO fans from Japan and other points Asian that the "bathlooms al in the outel concoulse"
