Still a Kid - Silera - 06-15-2004 Talking to Hosp on aim, and an interesting idea came up. I don't feel like I'm an adult, even though I've been one now for 10 years. Full fledged, working full time, raising two kids, paying my bills adult. Yet, I still find myself wanting ice cream and chocolate milk, and not wanting to share with the kids. I don't remember my mom being like that with me. Are we kids for a lot longer now? Are we less responsible? Or, are we able to be young longer because people are living longer? Still a Kid - Hasegawa - 06-15-2004 We're not living longer...believe that. Still a Kid - Rooner - 06-15-2004 No, its actually reversed. I know for me it is. I was forced to grow up so fast, I find that I act immature often. I had to be alot more responsible and dealt with a lot more tramautic events in my childhood than my Mom did. And even now, its like Im the parent and shes the child, so I take every chance to act like an obnoxious ADHD case. Still a Kid - Silera - 06-15-2004 So, we're kids because we had to grow up faster? Still a Kid - Rooner - 06-15-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Silera Thats my theory. We regress when given the chance. Still a Kid - Silera - 06-15-2004 That's very insightful. It doesn't cover the 30 year olds that still live with mom and dad. Or is that just the economy? Still a Kid - header - 06-15-2004 I wasn't forced to grow up too fast until my wife (then girlfriend) got pregnant and we were thrust into adulthood fast. I was already on the verge of reclusion and now with a 2 year old I have a good excuse not to hang out with my friends. Either way I still feel like I'm at least 5 years younger than I actually am (26). I like watching cartoons and shit which is bonus when you have a kid. Trick for me is keeping the balance of being an authority figure without being too much of a prick. THat's a hard thing for a kid like me. Still a Kid - Black Lazerus - 06-15-2004 i think it's the economy but what rooner said is true, I had to grow up so fast that any chance i get to cut up I do. Still a Kid - Silera - 06-15-2004 My mom had me before she was 25, and she never seemed like a kid. Still a Kid - Rooner - 06-15-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Silera Exception |
