See, I don't really split hairs over whether Jesus did exist or not, or whether he was crucified. All that may be true, fine, no problem. Son of god? Please. Died for your sins? Come on. Mythical and mystical horse crap.
The more likely story? A trio of radical religious fanatics saw something amazing that they couldn't explain appear in the sky (now many accept it to be Halley's Comet). They decided to follow it to the place that they determined it was "overhead" - which probably means that they walked toward it, and as they did, the Earth rotated, as it tends to do. They happened to hit Bethlehem right around the time that it got to be overhead, and just had t find the baby being born, which they did. They found him, and they worshipped him. Now, Joseph isn't a rich guy, he's not gonna refuse their gifts, and certainly not refuse that his kid is the son of god, as these dudes probably told him over and over.
And the immaculate conception? Mary got pregnant before they were married. If parents freak out about that shit now, imagine how they'd react 2000 years ago. And with the general ignorance of the time, immaculate conception sounds like an awesome excuse.
All you need to do is read into it a little, and remember that you have to think with people's knowledge (or lack thereof) of how the world worked way back then, and you can read between the lines pretty easily...

i dont buy this jesus shit either. i beleive in god, period. thats it. there may have been a man named jesus and he may have thougt he was gods gift to women, but son of god, riiiiiiiight. the only reason i believe in god is because of the formation of the universe. i beleive in evolution 100%, i think the planets were formed from dust and gas and whatever else theyre formed from. and then they did their thing and over a lot of time were here. but my thing that supports god is where did all the shit come from? it doesnt just appear. things just dont appear out of no where. if that could be explained some other way id say there was no god.

It's a movie based on a book.
The movie, since I haven't seen it, apparently doesn't PC the book up and therefore some people want the movie censored.
I've read the book, it was very clear about how and who cause Jesus's death. I am not running up to Jewish people now, 2000 some odd years later, and calling them Jesus Killers.

It kills me that they dont want history retolded as it happened. Im not religious nut, I dont go to church, but Jesus was a real person, documented many times in history. Son of god, who knows, but his crucifixion DID happen, and the Jews had a hand in it, and the fact that they want to censor this movie to help cover that up kills me. The Germans called, they dont want any movies to reference Hitler anymore for fear for retribution. Oh yeah, the Austrians too, cause thats where he was born.

From a STRICTLY religious point of view,
Jesus was born to die on the cross.
It was the reason for his coming.
The mob of jews who chose the thief (forgot his name... Barrabus?) over Jesus were just pawns in God's master plan.
So per the bible blaming the jews for Jesus's death is silly, they should be thanked, for facilitating the conclusion he came here for.
ON a personal note.....
I think a LOT of the Jesus shit got rewritten AFTER his death. I would bet a TON of money that Jesus never made many of the statements attributed to him. His disciples were left hanging in the wind, their boss was killed and their asses were next. I KNOW that they took the body from the tomb thus giving rise to the "ascention" myth. AND they started to embelish actual events, to scare people with the wrath of god, should they be killed next.

What is with the constant guilt-trip they put themselves through, and the constant belief that we all have to suffer here to reach pleasure in Heaven. Such nonsense. If eternal suffering equates to the notion of "Hell", then making yourself suffer for a lifetime here would equate Earth to Hell as well, wouldn't it?
