I think they did the best with what they had, however Lambert as Raiden was a bad choice, as was James Remar in the second one. It was like they replaced the whole friggin cast. Why not get the people who were in the video game??
Here's a casting idea for you.
Raiden, Chow Yun Fat, no question
Scorpion: anyone they can find and some good CGI
Sub Zero: The guy on the board, seriously, Once again anyone they can find.
Johnny Cage(my fave character) I have no idea. Or Daniel Pesina who was JC in the first two games.
Sonya and Jax: Whoever played them in the video game. Robert Parrish? Kerri Hoskins???
Kung Lao: Jet Li, no question.
Kano: ???
Shang Tsung, the guy who played him in the movie, same with Liu Kang.
Now you can all start in with the Jimmy has two much time on his hands posts.

Actually a script for GTA is in the works.
The HOTD movie actually has NOTHING to do with the game, Except the name, and there are zombies.
It's a bunch of high school students trapped on an island with a haunted house that has zombies.
It's going to suck.

I mean, even though Peter Jackson had to take slight liberties with <i>Lord of the Rings</i>, he didn't do anything absurd, such as set the story in modern times. Perhaps only Shakespeare is the only literary author whose work gets so rudely converted.

But, take a video game... and suddenly in the movie version, King Koopa is Dennis Hopper in a pinstriped suit.

Or take a comic book... and suddenly Batgirl is <i>Alfred's niece</i>, and no longer Commissioner Gordon's daughter, because apparently the good commissioner, who was always a major character in the comic, is just a bit player in the films, so his family isn't up for consideration either. But Alfred, who was a minor player, needs a bump up, so we can generate artificial sympathy for him when they give him a near-fatal disease (and a cheap convenience for getting Alicia Silverstone into her Batgirl outfit).
On a side note, does anyone remember these costumes? I sure don't. They must've redesigned them before filming started.

Nope, can't say I've ever seen these before. They look like some sort of futuristic Bat suits that we would see in Batman 2100.
Thank God they decided to change them.
