You and me both, 1989 was too long ago.

I would be greatly satisfied to see the A's win it all.

A's have yet to get over the hump and beat the Yankees. But then again, neither have the Red Sox or Twins.

Im hoping that someone knocks off the Braves. Then it will be at least a partially successful season.

I love bitter Mets fans, they put a smile on my face everytime I think about them. Big Grin

I love any season when the Yanks are in Fenway Park, up by 5 games in the standings, and leading 7-2 in the game...

and the Boston fans still want to chant "Yankees suck".

Those poor, deluded fools. Confusedmug:

I'm not bitter my dear. But I would like to see the Yankees get knocked off and have to go home early. Sad to say, for the fans of some of the teams that haven't won in ages, there have been people who have lived their entire lives without seeing their team win it all. Sad, sad, sad.

A's lead this year's season series 6-3. Every Janquis win= 2 Athletics wins.

And yes Brain, I'm allowed to complain because people don't remember who won that series, only the earthquake that interrupted it.

They did last year and I was sad. The year before that was even worse when they almost made it. I still hate Randy Johnson, that ugly looking motherfucker.
There's strange concidence with my personal life and them winning the world series. So, you see, whenever they win I have a good year and when they lose it sucks royaly. I'm selfish and I want a good year. That's all.

To which I say, sucks to be them.

You mean to say that if the Metropolitans (God forbid) were playing deep into the postseason year after year, and winning World Series like crazy, that one day you would wake up and say, "Gee, maybe the Mets should take this year off... the Expos deserve to win this year. Or maybe the Cardinals or Astros, since they haven't been there in a while."?

I didn't think so. Tongue

This is the world of sports we are talking about. And in every sport where there is meant to be a sense of finality, there has to be one clear-cut winner, one person or organization to represent the pinnacle, and everyone else to be the also-rans.

Why do you think the college football landscape is always being argued, when the BCS system can't figure out an undisputed #1 team? Would you prefer the major sports adopt that sort of free-form, non-playoff format, where every year two teams with good records are arbitrarily selected by a computer to play in a "championship" game? Would this be acceptable even if one or more teams with better records were then forced to play in lesser games as some of sort of consolation reward?

I meant in post season.

I wouldnt mind seeing the A's go to series; if Jeremy Giambi slid you might have gotten there earlier.

Just sayin that like it or not (and I dont), the Yankees have gotten into the heads of some teams. I dont think the Twins have a chance vs Yankees. A's might, but they still have to do it.
