When I was in high school, my best friend was trying out for cheerleading. She practiced and practiced and I thought it was so retarded, how difficult could it be that she needed to practice so much? So she challenged me to just go and try out, so I did. Unfortunately I made it. While I still think it is totally ridiculous how serious those girls take it, it did require strength and endurance, which in my mind qualifies as a sport.

there are some who consider board games like chess, etc. a sport.
