Alcohol leads to many drunk driving deaths every year. And it has been proven that alcoholics are indeed addicted to alcohol yet...alcohol is legal.

oh wait, that's right. We tax the shit out of it, choosing to ignore the fact that it has been determined time and time again that those two items kill people every year.

But really, what is the problem? The alcohol itself? No. We already know what happens when you try banning alcohol.
It's the lack of inforcing responsible use of it that leads to problems like drunk driving and such.
Cigarettes? eh, theres warnings on the packages - if you get cancer from it - sucks to be you. Read the warnings next time, focker.
Again, with proper education - we wouldn't have a major drug problem...just a small one. There will always be substance abusers, this I'm aware of. However, if the majority of these drugs were robbed of its' "mystique", there would be far less curiosity about it and more understanding of the dangers of using such drugs.
Let the people see the ugliness of improper drug use and you'd be amazed how many people would be turned off from even trying them.
On the otherhand, don't punish the person that can do a line or two and/or smoke a joint and then still be able to be a productive member of society.
Just because I enjoy a beer or two at happy hour regularly on friday doesn't make me an alcoholic.
And damn it, I reserve the right to toke up in the privacy of my own home. Or while reading a book at the county park.
And if I occasionally wanted a line of coke to wake me up in the morning (instead of a cup of coffee which I do not drink...) does that make me a coke head?
Responsible/moderate use of any and all substances is the key. As president, I would push to teach that lesson to all of my fellow Americans...

Gee.... everyone is supporting the vices they love. Imagine that. Just like all of the potheads supporting the growth of marijuana purely for the production of hemp......
I would:
Open relations with Cuba, turning the country back to a gambling vacation resort, much like Aruba.
Terminate Ally status with France. They have never supported us.
Drop the favorable trade status with China.
Remove ourselves from the Phillipeans.
Push the automotive industry to develop cleaner, more fuel efficient vehicles, even electric. The sooner we are off of oil, the better.
Research more gravity/damn producing sources of electricity. I am sure we can get more out of Niagra.
Try my best to wash my hands of Isreal. That is a conflict between 2 people whos differences lie within their religion and they would rather kill and die than to live.
Make education affordable and have federal education standards (read minimums) for Math and English/reading comprehension. States will still have control their education, but I would have requirements that a 6th grader can at least read at a 4th grade level. This exam would be Pass/Fail as to not be benchmarked. I would also allow any student who graduated high school the ability to attend a State University for 5 years with a student loan whose payments start 1 year after graduation/5th year.
I would install a 17% flat income tax, hereby killing my career. All companies and individuals would pay 17%, thereby eliminating tax shelters and my career.
I would combine Conneticut, Rhode Island, and Massechusettes as one state, and finish the annexation of Puerto Rico and make it part of Florida.

But I just got off topic - I'd personally make cigarettes illegal, and yes, I'm a smoker. Like with drugs, I wouldn't go stand on a street corner to try and buy them.
Alcohol, unlike cigarettes, does not kill people directly unless it's abused. I'm for stiffer drunk driving penalties but not making alcohol illegal.
I would raise the drinking age, driving, fighting age, voting age all to 21 so they're in sink. I don't think most 18 year olds can handle the responibilities, nor should they incur the burdens.
I personally would not make drugs legal, well maybe pot, I don't know, I'm torn on this one, because I'm not sure I understand/know all the repercussions of doing so.
And I totally agree that people need to be better educated because how can you make a good decision if you don't have all the facts.

The first thing I would do is Legalize all drugs, but you would have to go get a prescription for them. you would have to become a registered drug user. and you would have to go on birth control. you would have to work for your living if you didn't have a job then you would work some menial job with in government. the age on drugs would be 21.
This would put drug dealers out of business for the most part. my prices would be low and if you happened to OD the paramedics would be instructed not to save you. that is the risk you take you die from the shit, tough.
weed would be legalized as it is in holland you would have to buy it at weed bars and either use it there or take it home to use.
the penalties would be the same as if you were caught drinking in public or driving while drunk.
all aid to foreign countries will be cut off immediately the only monies that will go to other governments will be for what we owe them.
any countries that owe us money will either pay up or give us part ownership in their country.
All death row inmates will be broken down for their organs that would make people a little reluctant to commit crimes after a while.
The last thing i would do is to Kill every single Lawyer and pedifile, (cept eddie) in the country.
