It\'s about fucking time! - 60FeetUnderWater - 09-25-2003 serious questions only people...serious questions only. mug: It\'s about fucking time! - Grumpy - 09-25-2003 Ever notice when you talk to customer service of any large company (Amex, AT&T, Verizon, etc...) they never hang up on you and always ask "Is there anything else I can do for you?". Well, according to FCC rules, companies who conduct business over the phone are not allowed to hang up on people they speak to, whether you call them or they call you. It can be construed as rascism or biased towards you. Next time a telemarketer calls, first politely ask the name of the company and their name. Then tell them a little ditty about yourself: "I'm black", "I'm Dominican", "I'm gay", etc..... You've now established the potential for bias. Let them lead into their whole pitch and then ask them to hold on for a second then place the phone by a TV or a radio and walk away. Check back every so often and make sure they're still there. If they hang up....WHAM .....lawsuit. If they're still there, let them pitch again....and repeat putting the phone down. Telemarketers make their money with phone lines. You tie one up, they don't make money. You'll be off their list very quickly. I have a friend from college that does this alllllll the time. He's the one that told me about the little trick. |
