That might a little too far.

Sil, it doesn't hurt to shop at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc... you can get decent clothing there, with some good labels, at nice prices.

Are your KIDS pressing for labels or do you just feel bad? I mean, if they are clean, taken care of, and have a fashion sense within the last three years, they are fine.

I'm with rooner.

labels are for losers

It's just me thinking about it. I never care for labels. Most of my own stuff is under $20 for anything I buy except shoes and coats, and I'll only pay $20 when I'm splurging.

The thing is, I'm a girl and girl stuff is very cheap. Boys tend to be more label conscious as they get older, and good clothes for boys just costs more.

Eventually, I'll just match whatever the two freeloaders can show me they've saved at the end of their summer jobs so that they can get stuff they want. Hopefully, I'll raise cool enough kids that they won't depend on expensive clothes to define who they are.

Keep them in Toughskins and Old Navy and out of the "label" stuff. You don't want to be a grandma before you're 40.

I just moved down south and my daughter started 1st grade on Monday (yes folks, school starts in August down here...who the fuck knew). Anyway, its like a friggin fashion show down here, even at that age. I have no idea how much we've spent on the kid's clothes for the school year, but I know all the work clothes in my closet didn't cost that much (no, they aren't fast food uniforms either...bastards!!)
