Death is fair game when conditions are just right. Any combination works:
1) Funny, Ironic, or Extraordinary circumstances
2) People in the public eye (the deceased, not family)
3) When someone who is being a total jackass brings it up in the course of being hammered for unrelated reasons (Irene)
4) When the death is being exploited by people with an agenda.
5) When the deceased was a total prick.
That pretty much sums it up. If the person lived their life in privacy, didn't do anything to draw attention to themselves, was the average joe and died of a common cause.....it's not even decent material to start with. This is now The Man trying to further drape himself in the cloak of "Hey, I'm the edgy Going-Against-The-Grain Guy! Look at me, foraging for that shock value response!" Ugh.
