Stop locking the appreciation threads! - dru - 06-26-2004 how dare you speak ill about the great raimi. that movie was ooozing with his style & trademarks in direction. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - GMANN - 06-26-2004 Seriously. For all the hype, X-MEN was just dissapointing to me. I used to collect the comics for years and to me it was just bad. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - Jimbo - 06-26-2004 i was never into comics either except for superman. i still have all the comics from superman's death onward for about a year or so. until the 4 seperate superman characters went away. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - The Brain - 06-26-2004 Quote:Originally posted by JimboOK, that's certainly a fair argument. But the problem most of us have always had with video game or comic book translations to the big screen is that the director/producer/scriptwriter/whoever moves so far away from the source material, the only thing recognizable (usually) is the character names. Remember the Mario Bros. movie? It was a bad idea to make it in the first place, and much worse to set it in something that didn't look like what you find at the arcade. Have you read our constant arguments in any Batman thread here about how Schumacher fucked up the series? At least they've stayed pretty-- not completely, but mostly-- faithful to the entire Spidey storyline. Which is good, because it's what most of us want to see played out on screen. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - GMANN - 06-26-2004 Sam Raimi is the only one doing right by Marvel with these fliks. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - Jimbo - 06-26-2004 yes i agree. the mario brothers movie so didn't make any fucking sense. the mario brothers tv show was so kickass though. haha yes i hate all the batman movies as well except for the ones michael keaton was in. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - GMANN - 06-26-2004 There's a rumor that if they ever get the Superman movie started, that Lois Lane will be played by Beyonce. Now what the fuck is that about ? Stop locking the appreciation threads! - The Brain - 06-26-2004 Quote:Originally posted by JimboExactly-- Schumacher directed the ones with Kilmer and Clooney. And he made Batman a sissy-fag, armor-with-nipples-wearing, no-actual-detective-work-doing, sit-back-and-let-Jim-Carrey-and-Arnold-Schwarzenegger-of-all-people-overact-everybody-else... oh, sorry. This topic always touches a raw nerve. Carry on. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - The Brain - 06-26-2004 Quote:Originally posted by GMANNOh for Christ's sake, G, say it isn't so. That's as bad as a few years ago, when they hinted they wanted Eddie Murphy (!) to be the next Bond, before Brosnan got the job. Stop locking the appreciation threads! - JimmyBlueEyes - 06-26-2004 I liked the Punisher movie. Thought it was kinda in line with the plot, but it should have been set in NYC. OK back on topic here. I don't have an axe to grind with Brain, or any of the mods on this board. I do take offense to having, a number of my posts edited because I disagreed with the love shown for certain celebrities(See the Pressly appreciation thread, fuckin raspy voiced twat). I am pissed that the thread was locked. I understand Brains reasoning but I and respect his decision, but, strongly disagree with it. There was no reason to lock the thread. But, Brain is the mod and I am a member. The way I see it, the more appreciation we show for certain female celebrities, the better the forum is. I want to see the Monica Bellucci appreciation thread as well. Flock, get to work. Brain, I disagree with your stance, but like was stated earlier, if it is a celebrity who isn't too popular, the thread will drop out of sight. I'll get off my soap box now, thank you. |
