I do take offense to having, a number of my posts edited because I disagreed with the love shown for certain celebrities(See the Pressly appreciation thread, fuckin raspy voiced twat).
How dare you. Plus, nobody said we were appreciating her for speaking.
Quote:The way I see it, the more appreciation we show for certain female celebrities, the better the forum is. I want to see the Monica Bellucci appreciation thread as well. Flock, get to work. Brain, I disagree with your stance, but like was stated earlier, if it is a celebrity who isn't too popular, the thread will drop out of sight.
How can we share so many ideas, yet disagree so much?

The point of the thread is to give those "certain" female celebs their moments of "appreciation". It is supposed to make them-- however briefly-- a special or unique part of the Visual Entertainment's first page. The first thing I want you to see upon entering the forum is a select 2 or 3 names followed by the word "Appreciation".

Now if there are 20, or 30 such names on that page, how much special attention is each gal getting? Give a minute few an extended period of affection, and then move on.

And for God's sake, having read the new debate on Ashley Judd going on in the Jolie thread, I cannot stress this enough:

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE GIRL, THEN DON'T POST IN THE THREAD! SHE WILL BE GONE SOONER OR LATER

These are not debate threads; it's why I enforced my "Nazi"-like rules in the Pressley thread on you, Jimmy. Appreciate the gal's beauty, and then move on. Don't appreciate her? Well, then wait until one pops up that you do enjoy, because eventually one will.

Salma will have her time; hell, she'll get a whole lot of time, rest assured. And the same goes for Ms. Bellucci. And when it occurs, they won't have to contend with about two dozen other devotion threads floating around with about 3 posts in each one; it'll just be the two of them in an almost lesbianic embrace. How's that sound?

daredevil might have been the worst movie ever made.

Possibly, but it did have one redeeming factor.

Elektra (Jennifer Garner) was incredibly hot in it.

Brain you are a fucking retard. Get over yourself.

Why do you give a shit if a thread stays on topic? How does that affect you? If I start a Camryn Manheim appreciation thread and it turns into a discussion on something else or someone else, does that make it a bad thread?

If there are 50 appreciation threads about 50 people with cross references and all 50 of them turn into Alba vs. Pressley vs Jolie, so what? People are posting. And I'm sure it will be interesting because it will be about something of interest. And then everyone will get sick of their appreciation threads and they'll go away. You don't need to be the appreciation thread police protecting the children from too many appreciation threads.

Realize that you are useless. Mods do nothing. Mods are not needed. Sit back, shut the fuck up, and let the board evolve into whatever people want to post about.

Why am I not surprised this got you to slither back around here?

Do us all a favor and go back under your rock. You don't give a shit about this place; stop expressing your false concern.
Quote:If I start a Camryn Manheim appreciation thread and it turns into a discussion on something else or someone else, does that make it a bad thread?
No, it doesn't-- but it does mean the thread does not make much sense. You create the Manheim thread hoping for others to enjoy a topic that you show interest in... instead they show no regard for something you hold value in-- wouldn't that disappoint you?

Despite the fact that we don't see eye-to-eye, if you made a topic in which you had genuine interest, and everybody else ignored the topic and used your thread for their own agenda, essentially wasting your time and effort trying to get your topic noticed, I, for one, would feel disappointed for you, and for the fact that your great idea got lost in the shuffle...

or would you prefer I be a heartless prick and not give a fuck what your interests might be? How fair would that be in the long run? If you (or anyone else) start feeling like every topic you create will just be dismissed and used for other people's discussions, you will lose the desire to make threads here altogether. Then how will the board "evolve" (to use your term)?

Hey, believe me, there's nothing stopping anyone from making a debate/discussion thread ("Alba vs. Pressley vs. Jolie vs. Manheim")-- by all means, go for it. But if you create a thread designed for a set topic ("Manheim"), then where is the harm in that thread actually staying focused on the topic?
Quote:If there are 50 appreciation threads about 50 people with cross references and all 50 of them turn into Alba vs. Pressley vs Jolie, so what?
Then it's 50 redundant threads when one would suffice. But let me guess... you would wait for me to inevitably try to close some of the those threads to allow the others to thrive, and bitch and whine about that, too, wouldn't you?
Quote:And then everyone will get sick of their appreciation threads and they'll go away.
What is the point of appreciation threads if everyone gets sick of them because they are too many around? We all realize you like to blow your wad in under 30 seconds, but some of us would prefer to take our time and enjoy an idea for a while.

But you are right on the point (a point which others, including myself, have made before) that individual threads will run their course and fade away. That's when it's time to replace them with a new thread... but if we've exhausted all of those threads in one shot, what other options would we then have?
Quote:You don't need to be the appreciation thread police protecting the children from too many appreciation threads.
Even if I lacked all the "fancy" extra buttons, I would still prefer not seeing a fairly good idea run into the ground prematurely.
Quote:let the board evolve into whatever people want to post about.
Funny thing, that evolution... it takes time to develop fully, rather than simply springing up and occurring all at once. Sound familiar?

Now go home, Galt. I'm sure you want to keep playing the "rebel", the "moral messageboard authority", or whatever is it you consider yourself, but your concern over the directions this place is taking rings hollow and pretentious.

no offense brain but i think you might have a slightly overinflated sense of what you think is right here and if you took a poll most people here would disagree
