Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - Rooner - 08-06-2004 Ive never had a complaint about the show. Ive never bashed it. I just dont talk about it, theres nothing to discuss. Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - header - 08-06-2004 I will refrain from chiming in in show related threads after the show is on the air again as I do not have XM. Will that help out? Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - EffinC - 08-06-2004 In all truth, XM probably developed the new premium channel as a way of adding an incentive into their contract. This pretty much means that they dont make the big bucks unless subscription hits X number of people for their channel. This is a blatant attempt by XM to ensure they don't go backing another SU attempt. Truth be told, I'd much rather sample the new show without having to invest my first born child into all of the hardware. O&A understand the value of the underground exposure, but I'm ultra curious to see if the threat of less money will make them turn their backs on the fan base. I'll buy the system and the subscription if I like what I hear. I heard about O&A a little over a year before they came to Philly, and I was lucky enough to learn of SU around the same time. Once they came to Philly I made sure I refered a lot of people to their show. I'm sure other cities have similar stories, and look at the ratings they landed. It's immature and unneccesary. Quote:I'll admit, I have bashed the show a few times. Not constantly like others, but I have done it. Some of the time it was justified, and others it wasn't. For the times it wasn't I do apologize, but don't expect me to sit here and kiss their asses on a daily basis and not give my opinion. Last I checked this wasn't Wackbag where all they do is kiss ass and if you even dare say a single bad thing about their \"heroes\" you are banned or your post is deleted. Again, its fine to voice disdain for the show and yes, the last thing I'd want to see is a kissass festival. Quote:No offense to anyone here, but this place was never going to be recognized. Nevermind that this site isn't listed in this latest e-mail, I have gotten plenty of these e-mails the last year or so and never once has it been mentioned. So, with that and the fact that there are already 3 established O&A site out there, this place never stood a chance. I'm sorry to say that, but it's true. Now here is where I disagree. This place has been recognized; a link has been on the O&A site for quite some time. Big deal, it hasn't made an e-mail here or there. The fact that it made the official site is a good start. Don't be so negative. There is still hope. However, it is up to all of us to make this place a great place to go for an O&A fan. OH! I'm looking forward to hearing some clips of people rooning the Episode III release next May. Also, I eagerly await the return of the 55 Gallon Drum Challenge. Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - jewdown - 08-06-2004 I am also curious as to which celebs will be willing to associate themselves with O&A. God know how many pubilcists are stearing their clients away from the "toxic twins" Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - tricia - 08-06-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Roninthe radios cost about a 100 bucks and 12 bucks a month is like, 40 cents a day. it's hardly a lifetime investment. if you only have basic cable you have to pay like, 12 bucks a month for hbo. and people do that for what, 10 episodes of the sopranos every other year? anyway, i won't be getting it because that's my sleeping time. Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - Keyser Soze - 08-06-2004 i dont understand the need for recognition. with recognition comes responsibility to not piss off the show. id rather this place be a fringe site where people who enjoy the show can freely discuss it. but its not my board, so whatever the powers that be decide it should be, it will be. Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - The Man - 08-06-2004 I joined the first board because I loved their show when it was in Boston, I thought it was pretty good in NY, and then just went downhill. Toward the end of their show, the board got real negative about the show because the show sucked, not because the posters were jerks. Ant flipped out because he was being bashed (well before any of the spaz stuff) and was being a little bitch about any complaints about the show. I can't see how their show will be anything but worse now that it's on XM. The two things that just grated on me was their incessant need for wacky and zany contests. This will only increase, and become more used-car salesman like as they try and get people's money to sign up. They will also think it really great to be unfettered by censorship, but that's what's funny about this type of show (I can't believe they're doing this on the radio). That's gone on satellite, so they're going to continuously top themselves with gross out / sex stuff. It became just pathetic and transparent. They were best when they did what Stern has done for 20 years. Just sit and talk w/o a script. The more they plan, the more zany they get with their little catch-phrases, the worse the show. And Opie's constant cackle just grates on me. He brings nothing to the show. Nothing. His schtick was less annoying than Norton's (how anyone finds him even remotely funny on the show is simply baffling) but still. All he did was his over-the-top bellowed laughter and his "angry guy" rants that were so forced. But if it's "in" to shit on the show, I don't know that. I pretty much avoided the GD area for the last few months I was on the board and didn't even talk about it. "I'm sure O&A wouldn't care if people could still tune in on their computers after they are available on satellite. Most people will want to listen in their cars or other places where they don't have access to a computer. O&A have always been pretty good with letting people spread the virus. I don't see that stopping after they sign." Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too) - header - 08-06-2004 He talks about himself in the third person? |
