What\'s your rent? - Tenbatsuzen - 05-02-2003 I'm living in a legal 2-family house in a Jersey Shore town. I live on the second floor in a 2 BR apartment. I have a yard, a porch, and I'm paying under 650 a month, but I also take care of the place (basic maintenance, lawn care) for the landlord. What kind of place do you live in? Jesus fuck, that's cheap as hell for a "legal" 2 bedroom. WTF would an "illegal" home be? I have a 4 bedroom Italian style home on 10 acres just outside the city. What\'s your rent? - Tenbatsuzen - 05-02-2003 Quote:Originally posted by Toronto Hottie (Matty Fridays, Real Estate Agent Mode ON) A legal 2-family house (or 3 family, or whatever) is a home where multiple families live. The "legal" part comes where if there is a separate entrance from the outside of the house for each occupant to enter. My house has two doors - one to the front, one to the side to access each of the apartments. However, some places just have a singular front door with accessibility to both apartments, however both doors (one the inside) have locks on them. This is not a "legal" two family, but it's not like it's a police matter. I believe the idea of "legal" two family places give landlords tax breaks on owning the property. |
