Respectful media, or Pussies? - Tenbatsuzen - 08-16-2004

Setup: Terrell Owens had an interview with Playboy Magazine where he basically insinuated that former teammate Jeff Garcia was gay.

ESPN did a feature on this story duyring the "Sports Reporters" this morning. They went out of their way NOT to mention Jeff Garcia by name, only calling him "the former Teammate of Terrell Owens".

Now, my question to you is this - since Garcia was named in the interview as being gay, was ESPN being respectful, or just being a pussy?

If he doesn't come out and say that he is they could be sued

No. The only person who could be sued is Terrell Owens and/or Playboy. ESPN is reporting the story, and as long as they say that "Terrell Owens said in this PLayboy interview..." they are absolved of any slander/libel problems.

He never actually said that he is or thinks he is gay in the interview though. From what I heard at least. Right?

Not DIRECTLY, but he said it.

Well I'm just saying in regards to him being sued.

but why would ESPN want to be caught up in that mess anyway.

Garcia responded a day after this story came out saying he wasn't gay.
I'm not gay.
