People should get ahead on their merits only. You could have a poor black kid from the projects who truly wants to make something of himself. You could have a rich white kid from the suburbs who doesn't give a damn. Why should either of them get ahead due to skin color? Why shouldn't they both be required to work equally hard to make something of themselves? I don't agree with taking the easy way out. If you want something, you have to work for it. You don't appreciate it if it's just handed to you.

I believe that everyone should be judged on their merits or experience. But the racists of the country make it that we have to have a counterbalance. People in this country (whites especially) like to pretend that racism doesn’t exist anymore, that it is in the past and that those times are over but it’s not. Every minority here can give you at least 10 stories on how they have been discriminated against. So that’s how I view affirmative action a counterbalance. I would be opposed if they were letting every black in and crowding all the whites out. That’s not happening and never will So Calm down , Crackers!!

I wasn't say that I was for or against affirmative action. Merely stating my view on how things SHOULD be. I was in Mexico on vacation a bunch of years ago, and when I was in a shop, the salesperson kept following me around like I was going to steal something. I was quite insulted, but I'm sure people deal with that type of thing on a daily basis.
