Mosh pits

Can anyone tell me what is the appeal of these things? Even when I was younger, I looked at them and thought it was stupid.

A bunch of people, flailing their arms and legs like they are having a seizure and beating the shit out of everyone around them doesn't sound too appealing to me.
I had to work Ozzfest yesterday and people were coming out of those things with blood all over them. This is considered fun?

I think I'll watch from the sidelines, thank you.

I've never even gotten involved in them, as many shows as I've gone to, I was always the person who stayed outside the circle pit and watched everyone move...I did attempt to crowd surf once, then got dropped. That sucked. Ususally, the shows I go to, aren't bloody at all ('cept the Sick of it All show @ CBGB'S a few mos back). I usually stay up front & get my internal organs mushed together, but that's about it. Oh, and I hate crowd surfers- esp. the obnoxious ones that do it over & over again..........but those people at Ozzfest- well, they just like being bloody.

LOL a bunch of friends and myself used to do a mosh pit type thing at our elementary school dances when were in like 8th grade. God we were such fuckin idiots, lol.

Mosh Pit story :I went to see Metallica at Roseland when they were doing their MTV special for GARAGE INC. Made a few friends with these guys in the crowd. When Metallica came on they were picking people up in the crowd and tossing them up in the air to get em all crowd surfing. Needless to say they grabbed me and chucked my ass up there too. Only time I ever crowd surfed. I got dropped on my head like 4 times, but thank god these guys were cool cause wherever I landed one always seemed to be there to help me up.I left that show with 5 bumps on the back of my head. I'll never go in a mosh pit again.

i have a few. a while back i went to see offspring at roseland & i was just hanging out minding my own business somewhere in the crowd,when i got kicked in the stomach really fucking hard. me, being all of 5 foot 2, my first reaction was to start kicking & punching people out of my way so i could sit down on the side & catch my breath.

the next day at school people were coming up to me saying "i heard you went ape-shit at the offspring show last night"

once again i'm haning out by myself during tribe's set at the tibetan freedom concert on randalls island. (i dunno how i always wind up alone, especially when all the guys i go to the shows with are like twice my size, yet they always leave me there to fiend for myself) the pit was like a U shape, so i was hanging out against a railing in the middle on the right side of the U. Q-tip came off the stage & climbed up a little ladder that was right next to me, so he could sing into the crowd. everyone went fucking nuts & started pushing towards the fence & i was getting slammed into it & Q-tip. all i can remember from that was that i was reaching up & had my arms around Q-tips waist hanging on for dear life. & i could hear people around me yelling "get off of her. Get away, you're going to hurt her"


it got better the next day during the beasties set when i wound up under the crowd with my face in the dirt & people standing on top of me. i lost my sneakers & my sunglasses & walked away with bruised ribs & bloody knees. i was purty.

its not even like i am all involved in the moshing or whatever the fuck the assholes are doing. everyone always just starts pushing other people around uncontrollably til you wind up on the floor.

i pretty much stayed away from the crowd after that & decided i was much better off as a wall flower.

oh yeah, one time i was at ozzfest minding my own business leaning on a fence during fear factory by the second stage when i saw a fucking white trash drunken bastard stumble out of the pit & trip right in front of me breaking his tib & fib. jackass doesnt even do it in the pit, he does it walking away.

Oh yeah. Tibetan Freedom Concert rocked!!! Alls I really remember from that festival was no matter who came on what stage, D would bumrush through the crowd to get to the front. Pushing people aside with one hand and pulling me with the other. Fucking cool!

When i was 14 i went to the Warped Tour in Asbury Park with my cousin, we went into the crowd to see H20 and i ran into my brother who told me i better get out of the crowd or i was gonna be sorry.

Needless to say, i didn't get out of the crowd and i was sorry for it. When they came on for their set about 500 people collectively rushed the stage and i got slammed into a meta rail. The bottom of my ribcage and up was sort've hanging half over the rail while everyone kept shoving and i could feel that thing just fucking digging into my organs.

They weren't even nice to the fact, some asshole grabbed onto my shoulders to prop himself up while i was screaming for him to get the fuck off of me. There were only two ways to get out of the crowd too, dig my way through all the way to the back or try to navigate to the only break within the barriers to walk through a path between the stage and the crowd. I chose the latter.


All in all it sucked but i didn't lose my sneakers.
