Brain, again,
I don't despise them....
I am saying that this great age of oa.com was artificially created. and not fueled by the wit and humor of the members alone.
Corpse, Raven, JBA, Seph, Afrika,Fez, keep the list growing.....
all I ever read from them was complaints about how bad things were getting....

pen what i think theyre saying is that it would be nice to get back to they way it was...you know when people actually posted on the board. what is most sad that there is only a handful of people who post here on a regular basis and ftl just wants more activity, i dont think that is too much to ask considering all he and alkey have put into this.

Quote:just to say that this golden age was fueled by a membership influx that will never be repeated.
You know, if you just wanted to have another "Bang Party" to get interest going for this website, you could've just asked. Tongue

It was just an odd set of circumstances that occurred-- an alignment of the planets at just the right time. Everyone got interested in OA.com because of its radio mention, and people who had been posting there out of a love for the show were swamped by jackasses who were looking for some free lovin'. And out of those people who signed up, most who stuck it out through the fire, and proved to be more than just sex-starved poon-hunters, became damned good posters.

As far as I know, the only way to currently find out about this site is through the e-mail newsletter that got sent out. It's hard to have word of mouth bring new folks in to a website dedicated to a radio show that doesn't even exist anymore.

I might have to throttle you amy,
I swear I might......

you wanna post.......POST!

all I am saying is there is a mindset on the boards of crititquing other peoples posts while holding the past up as some great era of wonderment.

ALL I ever read from most of these people was bitching about other people and what they are posting.

I don't like chat threads, I don't like game threads, I don't like this, I don't like that.

It fucking kills the urge to post when all you read is complaints when you do.....

and chat and game threads do one thing,
they hopefully entertain people and keep them logging back in, BETWEEN the really fun and "quality" threads.

I have done nothing but TRY to have fun hear, and in return read about what I am doing wrong by the mods and admins.

well fuck it,
at least I was trying......

brain you do have a point. i keep telling ftl that when the show comes back the site will be so much bigger. it sucks to have to wait for that to happen but we just might have to. it DOES suck, however, when you compare the amount of people who have signed up so far to the amount of people who actually post.

AND then amy when you factor in the fact that the mods do not approve of the POSTS made by the people who actually post....
you have a real conundrum.

havent you noticed that we havent really said anything about your posts in a while? havent you noticed that we kinda just let things go they way they are going?

we just want this site to get more action, its not a crime.

Ken, you have just tried to dismiss what humanity has done since its inception.

Don't you know that we tend to view history and the past through rose-colored glasses? It will always seem better, becuase we tend to eliminate those events that seemed to go wrong for us. Even if you lived a horrible childhood, you'll cling to the bright spots and think that it wasn't nearly as bad as it really was. High school? You'll forget the hours late at night spent cramming for tests you barely passed, and recall those times you and friends hung out at an arcade after classes, or a school dance where you hooked up with this really cute girl. Same thing with college-- tests crams are replaced by keggers, or Spring Break.

We are designed to "erase" bad things from our memories-- accentuate the positives of things that happened to us. It keeps us from dwelling too long on depressing details.

Sure, everybody may wish for an old "Day in the Life of..." thread now (who created those threads, btw?), but I bet they have all but forgotten any inane threads that same poster created besides that one.

Actually Amy,
I thought Ninny, (A mod) started this thread,
and also mentioned my name a couple times as an example of suck.....

and yes brain we do ideolize the past,
but we shouldn't do it 24x7 and wring our hands about how much today sucks.

makes for a downer of a board.
