Again, great idea, great promotion. O & A needed to be mentioned up front, or at least after it got official mention on their site.
Should've, could've, would've, it doesn't matter now. You guys can find another place quickly and spread the word.
If there's one thing for certain, O & A fans can figure out a way to get to a place to drink.
EDIT: I think I'm understanding that Melissa knew but she never got the ok from the owner. Melissa is retarded and the owner is an ass.
Bang.
Doesn't matter guys, let shitsayers be shitsayers, quit responding. Not even worth addressing.
Let me know if my worthless Canadian ass can help. If all else fails, I can get us reservations at a great club downtown TO. Who's picking up who?
Thanks for your efforts guys, let me know if I can chip in for gas.
(stuff exchange rate jokes here ---------__________)

I'm not looking to stir up any more trouble, what's done is done, but these two statements alone prove this was not planned well at all like previously stated.

We told this particular person that we wanted to have a group of people come down to their establishment on such and such a date because we're all \"fans of a radio show\" and that \"we like to get together every so often to just have a good time, talk about the show, yada yada yada\". We didn't ask to put a banner up nor did we ever identify the show that we were all a fan of. Ollie & I felt that it would be best to not mention the show for fear of...something that happened anyway.

Funny, 420 says he and Ollie never mentioned a show for fear of something that happened anyway.
Ollie turns around and says the exact opposite and that it was made clear it was about O&A.
Sorry guys, but get your stories straight next time and accept the fact this was not planned well at all.
When we had the 1 year anniversary party for OA.com, do you think we just showed up at a bar and expected them to let us in? No, it was rented out solely for us that night.
When we planned these softball games the past 3 years, do you think we just picked a date and showed up at a field without securing it first? No, we went through the proper channels and rented out the field for the day.
Oh and to comment on what someone said about Donovan's Reef has an inside in case it rains. I was there and if we try to fit in the amount of people I expect will be there along with the regular summer crowd, we're gonna be like fucking sardines. Oh yeah, that sounds like tons of fun.

Do you understand the difference between I and WE?
I had contact with them after the first day....
I set things up over the phone with the events planner....
and I made sure they were aware of who we were....
Do you actually think think I'm stupid enough to think we were just gonna show up there? If that was the plan why would I waste my time and drive down there?

Not renting the place pretty much counts as "just showing up".

OK, I have to make some comments here.
1) I think that 420 is correct in saying that if you mention O&A right off the bat... you're gonna get shat upon. Only because O&A, since they've had ZERO positive publicity since the incident.. so it's left a bad taste in people's mouthes.
2) I think the correct way in representing ourselves initially is "online fans of WNEW". When you're pitching it, say in casual conversation, "You know, Ferrall, Ron and Fez mumblemumbleOpie and Anthony mumblemumble"
Yes, it sounds geeky as hell, but when you're trying to set something up, it's better than saying "The O&A Virus-spreaders".
3) 420, whatever you do, handle Bar A with kid gloves. I know at least one of the managers of Bar A is a Catholic and not a fan of O&A.
4) DO NOT BRING UP DONOVAN'S CANCELLING ON YOU. Just tell them that the site you had originally planned for this gathering was too small and you can guarantee them 100+ people visiting their establishment. No matter what, if you bring up NUMBERS, that puts dollar signs in their eyes.

Good call tenbats. I skimmed - but can we keep reservations at the same hotels?
And why make any association with anything? It's official for O&A'rs, it's a "friends gathering" for anybody else. Keep it simple.

Thank you FTL, that's my point exactly which some just don't seem to get.
Unless you actually plan on renting it just for us, what the sense in even finding out if we can go? Of course they'll say we can go, it's extra money for them.
Just show up like we're regular patrons. There is no reason to tell anyone we have a group showing up or what said group is about.
Just pick a spot and show up. It's that fucking simple!

I agree.
It wouldn't be the first time I've been in handcuffs.

Mmm.. Fair. Okay. But then you say....

Bu-....bu-...wha-...... you just.......bu..... what it had bent was....
Point? On the same page, you managed to promote apples and sell oranges. Congratulations. You've fallen into the same pool of ignorance that Ollie, 420, and myself are all in right now. Grab a floaty.
The problem is, the people that are criticizing our efforts are the same people that remained pessimistic the entire time. The ones that weren't going to go in the first place. Whereas, the people that embraced this idea from the start are the ones that are working to problem solve. If you KNOW you aren't going to attend... what's the point of discussing this thing in the first place, other than to spotlight our mistakes? If you have no positive feedback or any helpful suggestions, stay the fuck out. If you're willing to aid us in reviving this thing, great...let's do it.
