The BCS is a joke
#1
How USC is #1 in the AP and Coaches poll and not in the bcs poll is unfuckingbelievable. I hope they beat Michigan in the Rose Boll and claim half the national championship for themselves and leave the bcs committee with a whole lot of egg on their face. This is the reason why a playoff is needed and if it doesn't become obvious soon, then the ncaa deserves all the ridicule and bad press they get

Kids, this is a message from your Uncle Billy. Don't buy drugs. Wait until you're a rock star, and they give them to you for free!

I agree too I was watching Oklahoma get their asses kicked and just laughing at the announcers shrugging their shoulders at what the hell the computers would come up with.

And apologies to USC for my team (ND) losing thus hurting their SOS a little bit.

This just further begs for a new system involving a playoff tournament of sorts. Lower divisions have that system why not Division I.

The NCAA needs to look into taking some control and realigning conferences so that a playoff between the conference champions with a few wild cards could happen. And yes that means Independents would need to jump into a conference. I am like the only ND fan that wants to jump into a conference.

it's all a money issue. bowls = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Tis true but there would be a way to involve the bowls into the tournament and all the shitier bowls will just be door prizes for those that didnt get into the tournament.

a lot more complex than it sounds. college sports are all fucked up. tournaments should just be made up of conference winners and such. why leave anything subjective? and if you're in a tougher conference than someone else.....tough...that or the ncaa starts forcing schools to realign into more sensible conferences and overlook the money issue (will never happen).

I'm at the point where I just wanna say fuck tradition and force everyone into a conference. As it stands for me as a sports fan it's going to be a while before ND is in contention for a championship if they were in a conference I would have something else to hope for. Right now they pretty much have to go undefeated or the season is a waste.

The polls are such a joke that a team like Oklahoma can be so hyped all year long then at the last game of the season get their asses beat and their invincibility taken away but according to the computers they are still the best.

But in Basketball the shittiest team in the tournament can go all the way for the championship. That's more exciting.

And I'm sure that the accountants could crunch some numbers to devise a way to make a tournament system a cash cow.

I know I'd prolly watch every single game of a tournament instead of just watching my team's games.

Shit like this is exactly why I'm not into college sports. I'd sooner follow NCAA basketball before football and I personally don't care for the sport of basketball.
At least there though they know how to do it right and there is no doubt as to who the true champion is when it's all said and done.

What I would do with college football is keep the whole ranking stuff, but when it's all tallied up at the end you take the top 4 teams and have a 2 game playoff for the national championship. The #1 seed would play the #4 seed, and #2 would play #3. Then those two winners would advance to the title game.
How is that so fucking hard to do? Oh wait I forgot, someone would probably complain that their schedule is so hard and that wouldn't be right. Hard? How is playing 12 games and then being off for a month hard?

It's really sad how narrow minded the "powers that be" are in the NCAA. Like Jimbo said earlier though, it's all about the money and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone was paid off to push one team over the other into the national championship game.

Exactly what I'm saying there is a free month that could be utilized for a tournament system. I dont like taking the top 4 teams I'd like a more conference champion based tournament with a few wild cards.
