You can listen to that album, Ace Frehley is on the cover and I think is credited as still being in the band, but you can tell it isn't him playing any guitars on that album.
Ahh good point Jimmy. KISS has ben doing that for years. As a matter of fact,
in the "classic" movie,"Kiss Meets The Phantom of the Park". There are scenes where Ace isnt himself either, he's being played by an African-American fellow.
Nothing will ever get in the way of Gene and Paul making a quick buck!!

Yeah the black guy was his stunt double. And they did the same with Peter Criss on Dynasty and Unmasked. He had a broken foot during the recording for Dynasty and was out by unmasked, and Anton Fig played all the drums.
I'm not quite there yet

Their drug dealer!:grin2:
J/K Its probably the singer but it also may be whoever writes most of their material. When Vince Neil was no longer in Motley Crue they totally tanked.Record stores were giving that cd with John Corabi away. On the other hand, when Ozzy left Sabbath and was replaced by Dio,
Sabbath put out 2 of their most amazing records ever.
Nikki Sixx writes most the music and lyrics. Neil rejoined them and they still sucked.

Maybe so, but it was nowhere as bad as the train wreck known as John Corabi.

I know Nikki writes everything. I was just using the Vince scenario as an example.
Vince may be a big fat oaf now but I'd still rather see him with Crue than Corabi.

Your example was doodoo, but I agree Neil was better ...far better. And I'd rather not see them in any shape or form. It's been over for quite a while.

Metallica - I know, most don't care for them anymore, but I had to add them. You could get rid of Lars, Kirk and the new guy Robert Trujillo, but if you didn't have James Hetfield singing it wouldn't be Metallica. (I just know 420319208197 will rebut this one )
 You're right..I couldn't help but to respond.
I'd say you're 1/2 right. James is irreplaceable but so is Lars.
Look at the writing credits to each of their songs. They've co-written each and every song in their catalogue.
If either of them left, that would be the end of Metallica.

I think it's already been said...it all depends on the band.
