People cheat on their significant others because they are missing something in the relationship, whether it be physical, emotional, psychological, financial or otherwise, including their freedom. They seek what they don't have from someone who may be able to provide it for them.

Think about it, why would you go with someone else if you're boyfriend or girlfriend or wife or husband is giving you everything you need?

Because no one person can ever, ever, EVER provide everything we would possibly need. Sure, they can come damn close sometimes, but you will always find yourself wanting a little bit extra.

Brain - Sorry....I disagree. Utopia CAN be achieved but first you have to understand what it is that you seek in utopia. You say that no one can ever provide EVERYTHING that you need. To a certain degree I agree with you on this BUTTTTT.....it's up to you to define what your needs are and will that relationship provide you with what you need? Be realistic about it, not fantasy.

Do you NEED to fuck Halle Barry's sister? Or is it on your fantasy list? What would happen to your relationship if you didn't fuck her sister? Would that harm your relationship in anyway? if you say no, then you can classify it as fantasy. It's nice to have but not necessary for the relationship to last.

I have a friend who has a sweetheart of a wife. The woman is a saint with a body to die for and from what I understand, she knows how to use it. She cooks, she cleans, she pampers him head to toe. But the fucker still bangs other girls on the side. I asked him about why. His answer? The grass is always greener on the other side. I attribute this to his need for freedom. He didn't sow his oats. He wants to fuck anything and everything that walks by him. This is a case where what's missing in his relationship is his satisfaction of his ongoing conquest of woman. He had no right marrying that girl and putting her through this. He should have stayed single and banged away.

But that's just it. Isn't the whole point of living to try and fulfill your every dream or fantasy, no matter how unrealistic it might be. The fact is we as a people try to make a big deal of us not being animals, but at heart we are. The males of the species are <i>supposed</i> to try to spread their seed as frequently, and with as many desirable females, as possible. It's why we live shorter lifespans. It's why we're pretty horny from the time we can get a hard-on 'til the time we croak.

Human "society" is perhaps the only institution of relationship that dictates the idea of "one male, one female". Perhaps it's because we don't want to believe our lives are supposed to amount to something as base as "reproduce, raise young, die"... but that is exactly what it is.

Partly Agreed, what if this poor woman has no clue of her husbands side life? Is she to blame for unknowingly marrying a creep? Yes, marriage is definately a two way street however you cannot blame a spouse for staying married to a jerkoff for lack of not knowing about his gross hobbies. The problem (most often, anyway) with cheating is that the cheater feels the need to keep it secret, which creates stress on the cheater (trying to figure out lies and maintain the illusion that nothing is out of the ordinary), while putting the person being cheated on in an unfair situation of believing that he/she is in a stable relationship.

Perhaps the best way for any person to avoid this is to let their significant other know that they would prefer to be able to maintain healthy physical and emotional relationships with other people (or hell, that they just want to be able to sleep around).
