Out with the OLD, in with the NEW....
#1
The year is winding down this week...an up and down year for me...but overall, even with those up and downs, it has been a very good year...and a reminder that one must go through ups and downs and risk that discomfort to get what you want, or at least move in that directions. I have learned this year..that living...true living, <i>not life in a cardboard box insulated from the world, the hurts and others</i>, requires risk...it requires one to put themself forward to come what may. And if you get hit or dinked up, you have to plug onward. Ask anyone who ever achieved anything...and they won't tell you they got it from sitting on their ass. The played the game...they fought, got hurt, got pissed, kept going, fought back, etc. Thats my lesson learned this year...though i haven't gotten ultimately to where i want to go, i am closer and better off than i was at the start of the year.

anyway...just wanted to share what i learned this year. <! i also learned this year some former board memebers are some shady, backstabbing, scummy motherfuckers....but...then again, should anyone be surprised??? >

I learned that you should never piss into the wind.

&lt;center&gt;Boy the way Glen Miller played,
songs that made the hit parade,
guys like us we had it made,
those were the days,
and you know where you were then,
girls were girls and men were men,
mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,
didn't need no welfare states
everybody pulled his weight,
gee our old Lasalle ran great,
those were the days!&lt;/center&gt;

I learned that nothing comes easy, and everything takes a little work and care to make it go right. I also learned that Silera needs to be mindful of where she sits when attending board functions with people with cameras.
I'm not quite there yet

I learned a couple of things this year:

My dream is still worthy of pursuit. [insert plugwhoring of band here.]

Metallica can still kick ass.

You can actually meet good & decent people via the internet.

You can actually meet psychos who use fake names and tell fake stories via the internet as well. Always heard stories but never experienced such ta thing, until this year that is.

Messageboards are addicting as fuck. No, really...they are. And no matter where you go, there will always be one douchebag member on each and every board.

27 feels older than 26 but ultimately, it's just a fuckin number.

Peter Jackson is one hell of a director.

Will Ferrell really is funny.

David Spade is NOT funny, really.

Rape is pretty good at Socom.

Biteny has nice boobies. Hottie does as well.

Don't ever believe Rooner when he says he's going to meet up with you somewhere.

Hawt Baux was/is nowhere near the bitch I thought she was once I met her in person.

Angel Amy really likes the Dah Dah Dave song.

Alkey is a pretty decent admin.

FTL got too "hole-hungry" for his own good.

Grumpy is short.

Never ever EVER apologize for making ANY joke on YMB. If someone can't take the heat, stay the fuck out the YMB kitchen. Confusedmug:

I guessing that eventually, I'm bound to experience one of those "downs" in life that people keep referring to.

great that you can say that.

But, begs a Question, and i'd ask it of anyone that says this..so not aimed at you, Galty...

<i>Are you one of those that try to protect yourself by being in denial of ever being down just b/c you think that somehow you are above it???</i>

Not that i accuse you of it...just a question.

But, on a side-note:

ever meet one of those people..they put on this big front of success, success, success....and then you look a bit deeper, American Beauty-style, to see that things are just a glossy veneer. Whether they put up a great online front, or at work - put up a great front of pomp and circumstance....that they are, beaneath, these broken people, putting forward some fantasy b/c the reality is much beg to differ.

since that wasn't direct at me, I won't explain how I don't fit the profile...I've just been very fortunate. Not just from a material standpoint. Great family; no letdowns.

The biggest thing I went through this year was breaking up with a girl who though I really dug, was clearly insane.

Lessons from 2003...

Learned that in corporate america... whether you work your ass off or slack off, you still get paid the same amount.

Ween is rock's best kept secret.

There i still hope for the art of Motion Pictures (lord of the rings)

Credit cards are evil

Cancer sucks, and no one is safe from it...

<marquee>We are the music-makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams; World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems.</marquee>
