Yankee stadium should be paid for by steinbrenner - it will provide next to no economic impact to the Bronx. Look at that area now - it never has improved and never will.
The Jets stadium, on the other hand, will provide the city with lots of new revenue and the approach being taken there is the correct one. A stadium has to be tied to other things, such as other events (i.e. conventions) and also be the center of a large-scale redevelopment (restaurants, shops, etc.) in order to have a great economic impact. Plus the Jets stadium can assist in the city's hope of hosting the Olympics, a super bowl, and the ncaa final four - which are all huge dollarwise.
