September 03, 2004 - Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that a SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs II update will be pushed to all online players on Thursday, September 9. The fix will take care of exploits that online players have been using as an unfair advantage. Coinciding with the patch the ladder system will be reset so that those who have used an unfair advantage to climb the ranks will have to start from scratch like everyone else.
The changes will be affecting a variety of problems with the current online play. Parameters for players voting another player off will be changed and some disconnect issues will be resolved as well. The biggest in-game change will remove the ability of players to move off of the maps or into certain objects where they can shoot at others while they're shielded.
With plenty of feedback coming from all areas, it's good to see that Zipper Interactive and SCEA having been taking players' concerns into account and working on enhancing the experience for the largest online console game currently being played. With a possibility of a Greatest Hits version coming soon this online phenomenon could get even more gigantic.
