The point is that you're at school to learn. Every place has the haves and have nots and parents who care what their kids wear and those that don't, having everyone wear uniforms levels the playing field and also reduces distractions. There's enought stress as a teenager without factoring in trendy clothes. And guidelines are open to interpretation, uniforms are not. And you can express your indivuality apart from clothes, and if it is through clothes, school isn't exactly 24/7.
