Quote:He talks about politics, and how people watch the news/political talk shows without thinking or because they're thinking that they need to believe what the people on the TV think, based on beliefs, that they think everyone else has. Is that absurd?
The same way people are programmed to buy all the pretty products all the beautiful people on TV tell them to buy, people are programmed politically through things like the cable news channels and (non-\"shock jock\") talk radio.
You are right, but he's the first to tell you (at least in the book) that that's the case. I think the reason he started out and became big is because he was saying, you're not hearing the whole truth or any truth. Of course, I am not quite so naive that I believe that there's not a slant on his side as well, but in the end, I find myself agreeing with him more often than not, and I like that he doesn't people wimp out on answering the question that was asked.
I don't know, I guess I just don't really understand why so many people here dislike him, because I've never really gotten a good reason other than that everyone seems to view him as pompous. I just find it surprising, because in my view, he's calling people out on what they're saying, and not letting them get away with the same old bullshit rhetoric that is supposed to pass as an answer. I just assumed that a group like this would like that about someone.
