To expand upon that idea, or perhaps clarify it....
GIP's point of the board being all about the members, is a valid one. The board is nothing without its members, and Froy never quite latched on to that.
BUT - that doesn't mean that the members dictate the rules.
Some things require an administrative decision. Sometimes the rules can be made based on the members' desires. Sometimes the administration has to make these rules based on what they think is good for the board.
What you want is basically the equivalent of a cop pulling you over, you blow a .21 on the breathalyzer, and when he goes to arrest you, you can just say, "no, fuck you, I don't really like that law", and you drive off.... and the cop just shrugs and lets you go, cause he can't do anything about it.
Sorry, but we will have, and will enforce, rules.
CDIH has none, and that's fine for them, they do well with it. We're not going to do that. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but that's just how it is.
If you don't like it, no one's forcing you to post here, but please realize that no amount of complaining, bitching, or even civil logical arguments, will change the fact that we're gonna have rules, and enforce them.
Some rules need to be made on-the-fly, when something is identified as a problem that needs to be dealt with. And sorry, but the decision of what is and isn't a problem, is simply not yours to make.
If the "by the people, for the people" style is more your cup of tea, then I certainly won't hold a grudge if you quit posting here, and decide to post there instead. It's your choice. But since you do have that choice, don't fight the power. Don't try to turn this place into what you want it to be, just go to the place that's already what you want this one to be.
Re-visit my drunk driving example. The members don't always make the right decisions, and that's why we have mods/admins. It's not going away, so you might want to, if you don't like it.
