It is an anachronism to have "God" be such a widely used word in government.


Fuck what the founding fathers did,

they lived in a time when women didn't vote, blacks were property, and the bible was the only explanation for most of life's mysteries.


The Colonies were founded by a bunch of religious malcontents, (at least initially)
and citing the will of god was a good way to scare them into backing the rebellion.
