There is a proposal
Basically a bar in a residential and mixed use district (eg stores/residence) with a capacity of over 75 ppl, or a bar in a manufacturing or commercial district with a capacity over 200 people that played music AND was open after 1 am would need a license renewable every two years.
The existing caberet license situation would be rescinded and dancing would be allowed in all bars. Most bars would benefit, big bars would have to invest some money in sound engineers, license fees, and security.
It is NOT an outright closing of bars after 1am.
However, I hate NY bars ever since I have to stand out in the cold like a hooker to smoke a cigarette so I don't care.
