I heard a theory once that your heart only has so many beats in it. So, if you up your heart rate through regular exercise you're actually shortening you life.
Doesn't explain what happened to this guy, or how Jack LaLane is still kicking. But fuck man!!!, to quote Dennis Miller...

Being a fat bastard is not the key to a long life, but obviously neither is strenuous exercise. There's got to be a happy medium that will let me live right until I'm 60 and just before I start to die of cancer. I'm not all about life on oxygen, injections or other mechanisms to extend a life that's already been lived.
