I waddled my ass out to the back of the building on Saturday in clear sight of our landlord and started stripping the wires and attaching them to the appropriate thing in the phone company's box. (I didn't do a good enough job though so I still didn't get a dial tone) The guy saw me back there though and came to my door 15 minutes later to tell me one of his guys would be over to fix the phones.

Guy came phone is fixed. I'll chalk that up as a win for me.

Phone company never hooked up our line to the box because it wasn't clearly marked which one of the three dangling wires was for our apartment. Joy.
