i used to live directly across the street from Long Island City High School. kids today have no manners, i was walking down the stairs in my building and there was this fucking little faggot taking a piss in the front hallway. i proceeded to beat the shit out of him, roll him around in his own piss till he was covered and then threw him out the front door to his friends. things got better after that. maybe these kids today just need a swift kick in the keister.

I wish I could do that, but these kids- you don't know what kind of shit they have up their sleeves. Esp. the jerkoffs who hang out across the street from me.
I remember a few years ago, my friend's father (neighbor) used to be an alcoholic and just pound beers on bbq nights, and some of these stupid jerkoffs started a fire in the trash bins in one of the yards and he took the liberty(drunk, mind you) and walked his ass on over and started SCREEEEEEEEEAMING at them....I've never seen shit like that before
But after that, he stopped drinking and now he's a more calmer person.

And those kids, they smoke shitty weed. You can smell it. These are the same kids who think its cool to hang out in front of a bodega for hours on end.

I guess my neighborhood is different. There's almost always kids outside playing. It's nice to live in Bumblefuck.

SweetAngel....if you live in that kind of community then enjoy it and savor it because shit sucks over here. Last night there was a bunch of little 12 yr old shits running around outside yelling and screaming " fuck you....blah blah blah motherfucker...blah blah fuck that niggger...". I mean really....if I was 12 and I was out on the street talking like that, and someone my parents knew heard me causing a commotion like that....my father would kick the shit outta me. I have an old school spanish mom and an old school italian dad.....asswhippings were gladly handed out in my house when I was little. I think my father used to enjoy going to other neighbors telling them if they ever saw me getting outta line to "give me a smack in the mouth".

I do savor it. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of punk ass kids in this town and a lot of pussified parents who don't make their kids take responsibility for a damn thing. My son is constantly talking about "this one wants to jump that one" and crap at school. But at least the kids are outside playing -- skateboarding, riding bikes...whatever.

We'll see what it's like here in another 10 years.

I've said for years that I wanted to live somewhere where the worst trouble the kids got into was cow-tipping. I'm not there yet.

You sure we aren't related, buddy??

My folks were the same way. I must know about 10 different couples from my childhood who see me today and remind me regularly that they had permission to whoop my ass if I ever acted up.

I still try to play wiffleball every weekend. The only difference now is that when I was five I used to play it everyday. Still get in the same arguments with the same assholes...about the rules, or is it fair or foul....you blind motherfuckers! You know what, people might be better off staying inside now that i think about it.

I think it's more of people growing apart rather than isolating themselves. I used to play and talk to everyone on and surrounding my block up until i was about 10 then i stopped talking to some and hungout with them less and less. I still know and talk to a couple really close friends, people i've grown up with but for the most part no.

As kids get older they just get into different things, someone might go and join the soccor team while another is in a band. It's not that uncommon but it doesn't mean you can't be cordial with them when you run into one another. Unless of course they're dirty scumbags and deviants.

i think we are referring to the 10 and under crowd and how even they dont seem to get out and play as much as we once did.

i think video games and the internet have a lot to do with it. parents need to limit the time they spend inside. its unhealthy.

I am with Keyser on this. I rarely, if at all see kids out playing in the streets like we used to. I see older kids(early teens) around the corner playing, but for the most part the streets are empty. When I am blessed with children I will have them out at the park at least once a week, and hopefully be able to provide them with a big enough backyard that they can learn how to have fun. The PS2 or whatever its future incarnation will be hooked up in my bedroom, with no kid access till I feel they are ready and the internet will be used under my supervision only for school related stuff.

"But Dad, all the other kids have gameboy/ps2/xbox/etc.!!!!!! Everybody is gonna make fun of me!

Just wait til you all find yourselves saying things like, "Oh, Johnny told you to do it? If Johnny told you to jump off a bridge, would you do that too?" or "Because I said so."

While I agree with the tone here that video games and computers are making kids stay in more, it's hard to kick the kids outside if they don't want to go. I've already said that there are always kids out in my neighborhood playing/fishing/skateboarding -- whatever.

Keep in mind though, until you've actually BEEN there with having & raising kids, all the good advice and intentions mean nothing. It's much easier to sit back and judge others when you're not in the same boat.
