My guess is that his powers are extending into the real world. Remember (if you can) what the Architect said, that Neo is an anomaly in the program, and is in many ways a hybrid between what is the computer and what is "reality".

And who else thinks some of the \"loud\" movie goers are going to be left dumbfounded by the Architect's verbose speech at the end. You know who I'm talking about - they went to see MI2 with Anthony. I can see them all now, staring at screen, finally saying, \"Yeah! What he said.\"

everybody is talking about how the rave scene sucked but nobody is bothering to talk about the hot f'n goin' on at the same time? or it's true significance?

the scene was completely about showing "mankind" at its' most primal, instinctual form, from the dancing to the fuckin'; the scene was all about displaying human behaviors driven by primal instinct, showing us the instinct we use when making "choices".

the very thing/essence that the Matrix is trying to replicate.

i thought the xion scene was necessary to represent all the things fhore twenty mentioned, i didnt feel it was too long or poorly done. I think people are more enamored with the slick, cyberpunk elements of the matrix and the more raw tribalistic nature of xion seems boring in comparison. most people are thinking they could have spent that time throwing some more gee-whiz special effects at us but i appreciated them taking time to set up the second half of the movie even if it was paced more deliberately in the beginning.

Don't know if I agree with the instinct factor. I think it was going for the Love factor.

Man as very few, if any, instincts. One that is attributed to us is self preservation. When people put their own life on the line, for someone else, that is not instinct. When she goes into the matrix to save his life, that's not instinct. That's the Love angle they are going for. Even the Architect said he was the first to look at his choice from the point of view of love. His choice? Doom himself, doom mankind. Just to save her. Ain't love grand?

I agree with your meaning for Xian and what they were trying to evoke with it, but the bottom line is that it was poorly done and came off as extremely boring. The point isn't what you're trying to say, its to make it interesting so that people will want to see it.

ok, how would you portray Xion? Luxurious skyscrapers like NYC? Suburban environment?

The entire human race was driven to hide from the machines. It's not like they could've put up a simple chain-link fence and say "machines, stay out. BASE!! we're safe, we're on BASE!"

To me, Xion made complete sense. How it looked, the fact that they used a cave as a cathedral of sorts, all that stuff...

If it was boring to you, so be it. That does not mean that the scene was not necessary.

The point is that each scene in a film should make a point. Being interesting is good, yes. I agree however...

if the scene has no "point" to it, why bother having that scene in the film?

I just think that the whole Xion/dance/fucking scene (interesting or not) has relevence.

One, it's Zion.

Two, I didn't like it as much as I thought, for one reason, and Harry Knowles picked up on this.

Oracle opens a Pandora's box to Neo, saying that werewolves, angels, and vampires exist in the Matrix, as older rogue programs.

Meanwhile, remembering what the Twins could do in the trailer (similar to ghosts and wraiths), I thought to myself, "Holy shit, we're gonna see Neo vs. Werewolves. This could be cool."

Persephone FURTHERS this by shooting a seemingly-human rogue program with a silver bullet. This makes me think that the Malbovegian is a vampire, because he surely fits all the cliches a European vampire would have.

This was even FURTHERED by the fact that Smith spread himself. I was thinking, that in the old days, Werewolves spread the curse much in the same way Smith was copying himself, I was thinking that we were gonna see some serious Wachowski horror movie shit.

And we get NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. This pissed me off to no end. I don't want to see Neo fighting Smith, because I've been there, done that. I don't care if it's Smith x100, sequels are about new and different things. This is not it.

I might see it again, but I think Summer Movie coolness peaked with X2. Talk about blowing your load.
