What's a good weekend trip. 2/3 days tops. Any ideas?

My wife and I were also looking into 2/3 day trips but couldn't find anything affordable.. spending $200 at the jersey shore doesn't seem right..
the only thing that seemed real was spending $50 a night at the Best Western in Atlantic City. But it's not the cleanest hotel in the world.

what kind of budget we talkin' about?
solitary trip or with a loved one? Will this getaway be via driving only or is flying to a locale a consideration/possibilty as well?

No real budget although I don't want to blow the bank either. Going with a friend, and flying or driving, doesn't matter as long as the end result is fun.

never been there but I've heard great things about Ocean City Maryland...
Vegas is always good for great times but you may not have the $$$ for it (since you mentioned not wanting to blow the bank...) other fun places: Hot 22 Franks' Chicken House any establishment that offers air conditioning and booze. Dorney Park Great Adventure The Museum of Natural History/Planetarium Chucky Cheese (well, it was at one point for me...) seriously though - fun is wherever you make it. don't you think? did you have anything at least in mind, any considerations thus far?

Vegas becomes extraodinarily cheap in the summer time. If you've never been there, I highly recommend it.

vegas is cool.. it's cheap like everyone says.. but the plane ticket is more than the hotel..
Virgina Beach or Myrtle Beach is always nice.. and you could stop at Busch Gardens on the way there!
