I just got back from Keyspan Park in Brooklyn. Went to see a Cyclones game. they lost but that's not the point. What I am getting at here is, This shit is fun to watch. It's not expensive for tickets. I think the costliest ticket is $11. The bleacher seats are $5. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The only drawback is the cost of food, which is about the same as regular ballpark food. There's plenty of cool stadiums in the area. You got Keyspan in Brooklyn and Richmond County Bank Park in Staten Island. There's a few in Jersey, Newark, Trenton, and I think there's one near Lakewood. There's also a few upstate and in Connecticut. It's a lot better than major league baseball in a more intimate setting. What do you guys think???

I've been to see the Lakewood Blueclaws a couple of times. Tickets are $8 for reserved and $5 for lawn. Nice stadium, easy access, clean. Yup, the food costs a fortune, but it's a fun time.

Minor league baseball rocks.

I interned for the newark bears in 00 and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

At most minor league games you will be entertained. You can't say the same with the majors.

Cheap, always a good seat, fun atmosphere, beautiful ballparks - Staten Island is probably the best in this area imo - You can't lose.

Season ticket holder for Bridgeport Bluefish in Connecticut here. Despite being an independent league with no Magor League affiliation, the games are still alot of fun. Again, even though there is no MLB affiliation the league has seen Ricky Henderson, The Canseco Boys, Jimmy Leyritz, Ruben Sierra, Carlos Bierga (sp), Jose Offerman, etc.

Don't forget the Long Island Ducks (owned by Buddy Harrelson) out in Islip. Also independent, but do great business. The LI Lizards of Major League Lacrosse play in the stadium, too.

I've only seen the SI Yanks, but would like to get to see the Cyclones and the Ducks soon. The SI stadium is great, it's right off the Ferry stop, so it's ridiculously easy to get to from Manhattan.

used to work for the trenton thunder (now Yankees AA team, then the red sox aa team) the minor leagues are very very fan oriented. if youre a baseball fan its a great place to spend a night, especially if you have kids.

Brooklyn beats Oneonta last night 3-2 and goes into the finals for the NY/Penn League Championship against Williamsport. Should be interesting, considering Williamsport bitchslapped the Cyclones quite a bit this year and was fighting them in and out of first place the last week of the season.

I've been to a few Lakewood Blueclaws games. The stadium is beautiful, you can picnic on the outfield lawn and catch home runs.

Mike and the Mad Dog were raving about it last week, said they have huge attendance, one of the tops in the minors (Brooklyn I think draws more that any other team in the minors).

Its lots of fun and you're looking at talent that someday might be superstars. Garcia was a Cyclone just a few months ago, now he's playing for the Mets and being touted as possible contender for next years job.
