I play on a 98 IBM ThinkPd from home.
In my drunken stupor last night, I think I hit something, I hope I hit something, that has made my screen darker. It's half as bright as before.
I hope, because if the screen is going, our time together from my home is limited, until I can afford a new laptop. You'll all be heartbroken.
Anybody familiar, or with a suggestion to where I may find a goddamn "brighter" button, would be awesome.

There's probably just too much dust around the monitor.
plug it in, turn it on, get a wet soapy sponge and wipe down the monitor.
While your at it you should do the same to the keyboard. Because sometimes that causes problems too.

#1. I NEVER touch my screen. Ever. To the best of my knowledge, I never should. It's a LAPTOP. The screen is fragile.
#2. It couldn't get that dirty in an evening. The brightness has quite obviously lessened.
#3. WTF is a scuzzy? Are you trying to use fancy words because I'm a computer reject?

I say again, I don't touch my screen, you're wrong.
The brightness HAS DECREASED. It's hard to read it's so dark.
And Linux sucks donkey dick.
