Quote:Isles: my team is in transition. Young with bite, but needs a couple of years to make a true playoff run.
Now this is a team that actually scares me. While I don't think they'll be serious Cup contenders this year, I do think they have what it takes to put together a 100 point season and will definitely turn a lot of heads. They've got a solid young nucleus, and DiPietro is looking like the goaltender they thought he'd be when they drafted him in 2000. I wouldn't be surprised to see them fighting it out with NJ for first in the Atlantic, with Philly losing a bit of steam this year.

Philly: Bobby Clarke will always limit this team with his stupid moves. Oullet plus draft picks for Oates???? Christ, this team's best trade was to another numbskull, The Rangers, to move Lindros fat ass. Hackett is not the goalie answer they need. Esche could be down the line. To make a cup run, they need a top goaltender and have some young guns shine. LeClair is on his last legs.
Isles can scare, b/c there is talent, youth and the components are there. The defensive depth is stellar. But, they need scoring wingers to blow up. They have about 4 rookies that could break thru in the next 2 years, and they must find a top-tier winger for Yashins line. They are getting there, piece by piece, but unless a whole bunch of things happen, they can make a run to play playoff spoiler to a top team, but i don't see the tools to take it deep just yet.

Please, convince me that the Rangers will amount to anything more than cellar-dwellers this season, and bring some facts to the table rather than blind faith.
All I know is this:
If the team can embrace the "team concept" and stick to the system, we can make some noise this season. And thats not only my opinion but the opinion of many around the league I believe. The NY sports writers as well.
We've only played 2 games this season...way too soon to push the panic button. And believe it or not, there is alot of talent on this team. Its not like Kovie, Carter, Nedved, Hlavac, Holik, Lundmark, Poti, and De Vries, are scrubs. kryst.
For now, we'll just have to agree to disagree and see how the season unfolds.
And here's a fact - under Sather, the team played better than not during late last season.
All we need is a healthy Leetch.
Having him in the line-up is KEY.

Kick ass! Oilers are undefeated at the Skyreach, pulling off an awesome 6-3 victory over Colorado of all teams. I can't wait for them to play Dallas...it's not going to be pretty.
