Times Square on New Year's Eve
#1
Has anyone here actually gone to Times Square and watched the ball drop on NYE?

Personally I have never had the slightest desire to do this. The whole idea of standing out in the freezing cold with a bunch of drunk strangers holds absolutely no interest to me.
That and you have to constantly worry about being ripped off or worse while jammed together with a bunch of lunatics. Yup, nothing screams fun like fearing for your life.

Just curious if any of you have done it and whether or not it lived up to the hype.

Yeah, no.

Public gatherings are for social people. I prefer to stay home and lift "weights" (AKA - 40s).

Yea... fuck that outside shit...

just get plenty of beer, plenty of the nifty hors d'oeuvres you can just pop non-stop, HBO's comedy marathon (skipping the awful Paula Poundstone ones they ALWAYS wind up fucking playing), and your loved one next to ya, and i'd call it a pretty successful New Year's Eve...

I did it about 6 years ago. Froze my ass off but got some good sex afterwards so it wasn't such a bad thing. I think it is one of those things you have to do once in your life.
I'm not quite there yet

I did it once many moons ago and loved it. Of course I don't fear strangers, and am outgoing enough so I was part of the action rather than just observing.

i did it I think it was 8 years ago, right when i was 21.. I thought it was going to be great.. but... IT WAS THE WORST. People pissing and puking right where they are standing becuase there are barely any porta potties and if you move, you lose your space. It was freezing, there were some fights, police had to run in to stop the fights (that was actually pretty fun to watch), and the smell of puke was absolutely horrendous. I will never do that again

I don't ever want to do it. I'm not fond of huge crowds (yet I get squished at shows at the front of the stage), but 1/2 a million people isn't my idea of a fun night.
My boyfriend's friend wants to do it, but he's not keen on it. If I were on the roof of a building and had access to a bathroom & food & drink, then I'd be ok. But not in the cold w/all those drunks and no place to piss.
But I don't think I'd ever want to do it. I like watching it from a tv screen. That plus the twilight zone marathon Big Grin

I love watching the TWZ marathon! lol i would personally never do this even when i do turn 21. i hate people, which is why i have the nightshift job. people are stupid and annoying. especially drunk strangers who cant hold their liquor at all. like at football games, lol. I like to stay home and watch it on TV and the ageless Dick Clark do his thing, lol. man will that guy ever die?lol.

like others have said, if theres like a party or somthing then id go to that, but not outside in the cold with nowhere to piss or puke. just aint happnin.

I'm all about the house party on NYE.

Fuck the cold, fuck standing ooutside for hours in the cold. And fuck all that crowded together, pissing & puking wherever bullshit as well.

HOUSE.

PARTY.

dat's where it's at for me.

But yeah, perhaps ONE YEAR, I'll do it...just to say that I did.
