None of the pop stars could match the amusement provided by a man dressed as a referee who worked his way onto the field and stripped just as the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots lined up for the second-half kickoff.

After removing his clothes, the man stood in front of Carolina kicker John Kasay and started to perform something that vaguely resembled the Riverdance. At that point, he was wearing only a jockstrap and an official's cap. He also had a message written in black marker on his chest and back.

The man continued his dance for at least 20 seconds before security guards and Houston police started to close in. When the man tried to escape through the teeth of the Patriots' return team, backup linebacker Matt Chatham knocked him to the ground.

The stripper was identified as Mark Roberts, an Englishman who boasts of more than 300 streaks. His Web site, <a href=http://www.thestreaker.org.uk target=new>www.thestreaker.org.uk</a>, announced that he was going to attempt a Super Bowl streak after halftime.

Swarmed by security guards and police, he was carried carefully off the field to a loud ovation and flashing lightbulbs.
