Although the MLB offices are denying this happening, I'm watching ABC News right now, and Scott Clark keeps saying it will go down in the next few days. So take it with a grain of salt, I suppose.

Besides, I would love to see him return to the Cubs, where he started his career. He is the perfect veteran fit on that squad of young guns, and could be the last piece they need to get them to the World Series (where they can lose to the Yankees, of course).

I felt that would have been a dream matchup last year (better than even Cubs/Red Sox). Yes, Chicago against Boston would've been the war to end all futility for one ballclub. But after that incredible ALCS, where the Yankees stopped the bid of the team with <u><b>3rd</b> longest drought</u>^* in championships, it would have been amazing to see them go up against the team with longest drought. Would they have been able to keep two (TWO!) proverbial curses intact? Or was one of these teams going to get off the snide after so long?

If Chicago had gone directly up against Boston, you know that one of them has to win (we think; you never know with these curses), so the drama is dampened somewhat.

*Bonus: We know that the Chicago Cubs have the longest drought, and I mentioned that the Red Sox have the <b>3rd</b> longest...

Does anyone know who is #2 on the list? And what year was the last time this team won? Cookie goes to whomever answers the question correctly first.

Funny thing is last night I was saying to someone "watch the Yankees now go after Maddux since he's available" and he said to me "nah, he's too old."
Looks like I may have been right after all.

Still, you guys need a solid left handed pitcher and if the rumors I've been hearing are true, you may have gotten rid of a big prospect in your minors in the A-Rod deal that could have been a huge star. His name is Sean Henn and he's a lefty who can fire it in the 100 mph range.

Since I technically cheated, I'll gladly share them with the whole board, but I get two for answering first. :tongue:

I really had no clue and had to look up the World Series history. My first guess was Detroit, but then remembered they had won it in the mid 80's.

So, both Chicago teams are #1 & #2, huh. Damn, that must really suck for that city. Thank God for the Bears and the Bulls, otherwise there might be a mass exodus of their sports fans.
