Boy the way Glen Miller played,
songs that made the hit parade,
guys like us we had it made,
those were the days,
and you know where you were then,
girls were girls and men were men,
mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,
didn't need no welfare states
everybody pulled his weight,
gee our old Lasalle ran great,
those were the days!

I'm a cop, yes. That's the smartass title much like secretaries demanding to be called "Administrative Assistants", Cashiers being "Sales Associates", and Strippers being "dancers".

I work on the third platoon, 4PM-12AM. My friend works with me, and he is home until 3:45PM each day which means he is watching his children for all but 3-4 hours a day. That's the kind of situation I fear. He's obviously stepping up to the plate and putting food on the table (works 2 jobs on his days off, similar hours) while playing a very active role in raising his kids. Yet, he still catches shit.

I applaud the folks that make it work, but with marriage today being a coin flip how the hell are you sure you've got the right one? Can you afford the risk with the divorce laws of today being so anti-male? I guess you really cannot answer that until you find that person....

you should use a word other than "technician" for your made up job description.

There's nothing technical about it.

And you'll never pick up anyone when she asks you what you do and you say "law enforcement technician", you might as well just say "I'm a loser with no confidence who is embarassed about my job to the point that I have to embellish and make it sound sexier"

When if you just said, "I'm a cop", it would take her a while to realize how insecure you are. By then you would have probably banged her already.

Hey ASS F,

It's a sarcasm thing I made up. I've never used it in conversation with anyone other than other cops.

As for me being embarassed about it, not a chance. I love what I do and am thrilled that I finally got a job doing what I always dreamed of, getting paid more money than what I went to school for, and best of all: I don't bust my ass working only to make someone else rich.

Insecure? I find that interesting. Everyone has insecurities, evidently you have a major authority complex with regards to police officers. What happened, did your old lady leave you after you caught her banging a pig? Your level of resentment is humorous. We're not all like that, but I won't deny the fact that such behavior runs rampant in many depts.

Have fun in your cubicle, your work van, or under the desk of some junior VP douche bag you're sucking up to in order to move up the corporate ladder. Your reply will probably be that you're self employed and very successful with a faster car than me, a boat yadda yadda. Whatever the case may be I'm glad your far more capable of holding a "technical" position.

Shouldn't you be chasing some minority for a good old fashioned beat down?

We're not gonna blame you, even if you are an accessory... But we will not except your natural order. We didn't come for absolution, we didn't ask to be redeemed. But isn't how it is, every goddamn time... Your prayers are always answered, in the order they're received...
