Its May 3rd, and the season seems like its over. I dont know how we can get rid of some of these guys, or who would want them, but this is what i would do.
1. Trade Piazza. As much as i like the guy (he is my favorite Met), we have a shitload of catchers in the minors, and Vance Wilson could start for at least half the teams in this league. Trade Piazza now while you can still get some value for him, a couple of prospects and a mid-level star that plays good defense.
2. Trade Alomar. This is the reincarnation of Carlos Baerga. We mustve done something to piss the Indians off, because this is the 2nd all star 2nd baseman that weve gotten from them that disintegrated with us. I hate Alomar with a passion.
3. Bench Vaughn and Cedeno, and start Clark and Timo. And as long as Burnitz is out, keep Shinjo in there too. FLoyd is a liability in the OF too, but his bat is too good to have him sit down. I know this will never happen, since Vaughn and Cedeno are holding the Mets ransom for their money, and you cant bench big money players, its one of those unwritten rules that suck ass.
4. Move to the AL. They have 4 DH's on the damn team, only problem is that there is no DH in the NL.
5. FIRE STEVE PHILLIPS!! Guess it wasnt Bobby V's fault at all huh. By the way, Bobby V on Baseball Tonight kicks some serious ass.
These are just things i want to happen, they obviously wont though. GO METS!!!

Piazza's not the problem, He just needs to get out from behind the plate, but he cant do that with Mr. Cheeseburger at First Base making 17 million a season.
Thats where the Mets are screwed the most, they cant get rid of Vaughn, and they need to move Mike to First, and they cant do either one of them.
I pretty much agree with everything else, and one more thing, its time to say goodbye to Joe McEwing. He was a great role player in 2000 and 2001, but his time is up with this team. If I see him strike out on another pitch in the dirt, im going to scream. He hit under .200 last year, and he's well below it again this year.
They have to start sweeping some teams, that was the same problem last year. 2 out of 3 is nice, but if they are going to get back to .500 they need to take 5 out of 6 on this upcoming homestand.

To think, this team was almost on top of the world a few years back. :disappointed:
Just curious, does anyone have the stats as to what the ratio of their runs scored to errors is? I wouldn't be surprised if they are close or if the errors actually surpass the runs scored.

Courtesy of updated stats at mlb.com (their stats are sick):
Mets: have scored 113 runs, have made 32 errors (in 31 games!!), have given up 12 unearned runs out of 153 total runs scored on them, 2nd to last in batting at .236, and 2nd to last in fielding pct at .973.
By the way, this DOESN'T include the NUMEROUS misplays and lack of good judgement by assholes like Cedeno, and especially Alomar. If they were included in the errors group, we'd definitely have more errors than runs scored.
At least we won today, Floyd hit a Grand Slam, and Benitez actually kinda made it look easy. That's 1 in a row.

Quote:Mets shortstop Rey Sanchez is embroiled in a haircut controversy, according to a report in The New York Post. Reliever Mike Stanton was pulled from a recent game that the last-place Mets were losing, only to go back to the clubhouse and find Sanchez getting a haircut. The report originated from talk show host Michael Kay on ESPN Radio, who said Stanton was \"flabbergasted.\" Mets manager Art Howe told The Post through media relations vice president Jay Horwitz that \"The situation will be assessed and addressed.\"
That's just fuckin disgraceful... where the fuck do you even get the nerve to do that?
Either way... thank god I'm not a mets fan.

Why the fuck couldnt he wait until after the game to do that shit? This is almost as bad as the Bobby Bonilla-Rickey Henderson playing cards episode back in 99 against the Braves in the playoffs, only difference is that Sanchez did this in a regular season game. Still, it is inexcusable behavior, and just another thing that has gone wrong for the Mets so far this year. :disappointed:
Gotta win tonight, to get the winning streak to 2 in a row!

Well thats 2 in a row! The world must be coming to an end soon becaue Benitez got another save. And the man that shouldve been starting at first base from the start of the season (due to his awesome spring training), Tony Clark, hit another home run. Go for 3 in a row tomorrow
