The Brown contract comes off this year, which is something like $20 million a year. Even getting another huge free agent, their payroll will be lower than last year's.

well I never doubted that torre would not quit, the question was would george fire him. Torre is too stubborn and plus he knows he won't be as successful or revered elsewhere, just look a pinella.
