pictures in a panel format, published by DC comics. It's a comic book.
content-wise, it's really not.
its drawings of people, in panels, published by DC comics. it's a comic book. just because it is serious doesnt make it any less of a comic book.
wikipedia: "A comic book is a magazine or book containing the sequential art in the form of a narrative. Comic books are often called comics for short. Although the term implies otherwise, the subject matter in comic books is not necessarily humorous, and in fact its dramatic seriousness varies widely"
I have never read it but if it's content is that good then it deserves to be on the list no matter what format it is in.
you should read it, I think you'd really enjoy it.
I'm currently reading a great bio on capone but i'll toss it on the list.
I'll expect a full review.

How could Atlas Shrugged or Fountainhead not be on this list? Baffling.
we use baffling in the theater to stop echoing
from Wikipedia as well:
In the early to mid-21st century, greater acceptance of the comics form among the general reading populace coincided with a greater usage of the term graphic novel, often meant to differentiate a book of comics with a spine from its stapled, pamphlet form, but the difference between the terms seems fuzzy at best as comics become more widespread in libraries, mainstream bookstores and other places.
in other words...more sophisticated content and a higher page count in a spine bookform.
Maus, Akira, Stray Toasters, Watchmen, Marshal Law, Ghost World, Sin City, Best of American Splendor all graphic novels. All award winning pieces of some sort, or made into a movie. Maus won the Pullitzer Prize.
Quote:Marshal Law
another classic - I have the original issues.
i actually love that series more than Watchmen.
thought it would have been a terrific movie with Nick Nolte ((before he got drug-addled))
