the Yankees spend shitloads of $$ and they get crucified. The Mets do it, and they get "it's about time", "Finally", etc.
seems a little odd to me...
for years i have said, i wish the mets had someone like steinbrenner who will take the money he makes and put it back into his team. anyone who mocks the yankees for putting money back into making their team better is foolish.
what was this stuff about benson for a reliever from the orioles??? why would they do that?
false alarm. msg had a rumor and ran with it like it was a done deal.
i'd welcome bernie with open arms.

The Mets have traded right-hander Kris Benson to the Orioles for reliever Jorge Julio and right-hander John Maine, FOXSports.com has learned.
The trade with the Orioles will give right-hander Aaron Heilman a chance to become the Mets' No. 5 starter.
Benson will join a rotation that includes left-hander Erik Bedard, and right-handers Daniel Cabrera and Rodrigo Lopez.
Benson finished the 2005 season with a 10-8 record, with a 4.13 earned run average and 95 strikeouts over 174.1 innings pitched. Julio appeared in 67 games for the Orioles in 2005, recording 58 strikeouts over 71.2 innings with a 5.90 earned run average.
Heilman appeared in 53 games for the Mets, starting seven. Before the deal, the Mets envisioned Heilman and Duaner Sanchez as set-up men for new closer Billy Wagner.
